Sunday morning news!

Millie - After reading my post I can see that I wasn't too clear about things!  It's not me who has the issue, but the shut-in that I do errands for.  Her OCD is strange; she has a terrible fear of germs and bacteria when it comes to hands and food prep, but has a filthy, disgusting house.  Everything goes on the floor and there is garbage everywhere.  There is no room to set foot in the living room (literally) and only a small path from her bedroom to the kitchen.  I can start smelling the inside of her house at least six steps before I get to the door.  Blech..
All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press
on to your destination.

Hi Pat and my OFF family:

No longer morning, it's afternoon. I slept til 10:30 when my mom called and woke me up. I was half awake anyway ... but didn't want to get up. It's bright and sunny but my attitude isn't. I'm just dragging. I think it's hangover from working sports last night. I feel like I'm working on a different newspaper when I'm over there. They do things so differently than the rest of of the paper. I really don't enjoy it. And some of the guys (well, basically the younger guys who answer the phones) are such jerks. We were watching the Preakness, and the filly won ... well, a lot of the guys were rooting against her because ... well, she's female. This one young guy had the gall to say "I hope she breaks an ankle." It's a horse! How could anyone wish that? I thought we'd gotten beyond that sexism. I had dealt with that earlier in my career, but I thought this department was different, with a female sports editor, a woman writing a prep colum and two female copy editors. I guess not!

This one young guy ... pudgy young guy ... last week someone brought up a team name of Cougars (and you know what that connotates ... a cougar is a sexy older woman). Well, this guy says, "I'd like to have a cougar ... the things I could do to her." And there I am, listening to this. I look up at him and glare ... and he didn't flinch! What a jerk! This guy probably wouldn't have a chance with a girl his own age.

Sorry for ranting here. I am so unhappy working Saturdays. At least last night I had something to do ... two pages, kept me pretty busy. But everything came in so late, I was scrambling to get them done. And I was so tired yesterday. By the end of the evening, I had a headache, a neck ache and my knee hurt so bad.

I just don't feel a lot of joy in my life right now. Sorry to put everybody in a down mood.

I went to my great-niece's First communion today.  It was in a really beautiful church.  Then this afternoon was her party.  It was a lovely day but I am tired...

Tomorrow I have to get up early to go back to Riverhead (our county seat) to continue on jury duty on a criminal case.  I just hope that we finish before Memorial Day.
