It's Sunday; What's Up?

The bats are really far in the caves and we never even heard them but we know they are there.   One of the things about the caves in Arkansas, and there are many, is that you can travel throughout them and never disturb the bats.  In New Mexico, the bats just flew out of the caves and bat **** went every where, but here, they stay deep in the caves where it is dark and cool; however, I'm sure it is the bat crap that makes it hard for me to breath.  The guano and the dampness of the cave and the mold.  Arkansa has a huge mold count because of the thick forrests, wetness, and the humid air.  At one point when we were hiiking, I felt the heaviness in the air with every breath.  But your right, nature is best left unmolested and for sure respected.  I, too, am a tree hugger.  If you're ever in Arkansas give me a hollar and I'll take you into the prettiest woods in the world.  Well, maybe not the prettiest, but they are contenders.

"Thanks for getting us started, and I wish more people would respond. "

there were two threads-many responded on the other one...it happens alot around here- specially if they don't specifically say "what's new?" r post within seconds of each other like george and i the other morning.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

That's the really sad thing about being ignored.  Entire conversations occur and those like Darlene and I are totally left out.  It's true that I have a couple of people on ignore, but not because I didn't want them posting or not because I didn't want them reading my post, but because I was getting such hateful messages from them that I had not choice.  Anyway, a message board where people just put those people who are different on ignore because they don't like what that different person is saying are dysfunctional.  Someone gets mad or misunderstands a post and the next thing they do is put us on ignore and leave us out of an entire conversation.  How rude and how immature is that.  I always say if you don't like my language, if you don't like my beliefs, don't read my post and if I respond on your post with something you don't like and I don't mean you, Margo, just don't respond.  That's what I do.  But, I always forget the mentallity of the board members here.  It's we all must be exactly alike or the one who is different must either go or we will just not play with her.  It's really sad. But, it's still all cool with me and I've been here and will stay here and keep on keeping on. LOL

Here you go again, making me think.

First, I enjoyed the back and forth between you and Darlene.

I hate the ignore feature on OH.  Just like was mentioned, someone who has some valuable information could post it on here and someone who has you on ignore would never see the thread.  Or someone who has you on ignore may have some information you could use and you would never see it.  It is such a shame.

I have one person on ignore.  It is for personal reasons, and truthfully, that person doesn't really post much.  At least on the forums I read.  She just came in to one of the ones I post on one day and attacked people for no reason.  I had never even seen her before and all of a sudden, out of the blue, bam!

George, I agree that the ignore feature has it's value.  I was being totally attacked by a man from here and for no reason.  And then a woman, who didn't like me being a non-christian, decided to try and convert me and sent me tons of messages through the personal message place and so I ignored her. The man was rude and crossed the line in many of his post as far as women were concerned and while many of the women laughed at his crudeness and misogyny, I found it to be so offensive.  I even printed his post and his messages and let one of my colleagues look at it and he agreed that the man has issues against women.  Damn, I'm sitting here talking to you and cannot remember if I took my thyroid medication. LOL.  Okay, I'm going with NO.

One other thing real quick.  Though I am sure you already know it, but Sunday is typically a light day on the board.

I know this week, I did not post on any of the boards since last Thursday.  Took a small break, but not because of anything that happened.  Just hate to post from my home computer it is so slow.

I know Sunday is slow, but if you look at the number of people *****ad the post and the number that responded, well, it just seems as if there is a dispairity.

Kennewick Karen checking in here! Not ignoring anyone; just hate that bickering back and forth. Love those one on ones in person but not so much when it's just in writing. Too much to read between the lines. As I've said before, love the diversity of this board and don't want anyone to stop reading or posting. That being said, I head for a corner when it gets too hot. Maui Karen is that one of the "requirements" for being a Karen???

Jeannie, your post about the caves brought tears to my eyes. About 10 years ago when Mom was 85 we visited the Batesville, AR area when she spent her first 10 years. She hadn't been there for 70 YEARS. Driving around in the country on dirt roads she led me this way and that. . . and right to the location of Chinn Springs. She and her siblings played there in the hot, humid Arkansas summers. The cool air from the caves wafted out over the springs. They rocked up the springs to form a swimming hole and spent many wonderful hours there. Thanks for bringing back the memory of that day. I can just picture you and your son and your restored health! Thanks for sharing.

I'm in Salt Lake city doing family research and using the hotel computer so must cut this short. Wow, I had preconceived ideas about Salt Lake. A much more diverse city than I anticipated.  Talk about two different cultures living side by side! The family research library was closed yesterday so I was out and about all day.

Attended the taping of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, toured the Temple Square gardens (Jan they are gorgeous! I took pictures), then attended an outdoor  art, crafts and cultural diversity fair. Even got a bit of a sunburn. Closing act was folk singer Mike Seeger, brother of Pete,. . . Absolutely wonderful. He played and sang. Many instruments. Mandolin, banjo, guitar, fiddle, spoons, pan flute. . . .

Gotta go. Someone wants to use the hotel's computer. The nerve!

Karen,

The next time you come to Arkansas, I'm taking you through Devil's Den and through a couple of tour caves.  Then, we'll get Jan to come down and go hunt diamonds or crystals.  BTW, when you heading back?
