1 Samuel 22:1-23:29

Interesting that instead of just taking care of Saul right from the getgo, God sees to it that David gets just enough information to stay one step ahead of Saul.

John 10:1-21
Psalm 115:1-18
Proverbs 15:18-19

I agree that according to this story, David had some inside help in getting the upper hand of Saul.   What I appreciate about david is not that he was this meek shepherd annointed by god, but that he was not your typical biblical hero.  I mean, Noah was good, he was so good that god saved him. Also, Abraham was chosen by god and given so many opportunities to succeed and did and Issac.  Jacob, even though he made some bad choices, ended up always appearing to be righteous.  His son Joseph, well, we know what the story is there.  He was so beloved in his father's eyes that his brothers were jealous and sold him into Egyptian bondage, which took the entire trib of Israel. Then Moses, saved by his mother and guarded by his sister and loved by the princess and adopted by the king and then the hero to take the chosen out of bondage.  But David, we always see his faults.  He is not really the good shepherd but he is human and I think when we do the comparison between Jesus and David, we find that Jesus is Davids good twin.  Meaning, that he is an improvement on David: both are always defined by the anaology of being shepherds and by being sacrificial. David saved his sheep from the lions and bears and then the people from the giant, while Jesus is teaching his sheep how to survive.  So these two are the two that I always think about when I think about biblical heroes. David the human form of perfection: he had many sexual impurities and paid, while on earth, for those sins; while Jesus was perfect in human form and never fell into temptation. So Jesus was, I think, meant to be an extention of all the other heroes before him.  While Moses cursed a rock, Jesus cursed a Fig tree; David followed women, Jesus had many women followers; Jacob met an angel in the dessert, Jesus was tempted by Satan in the dessert.  These comparisons are so easy to see but the understanding of the significance is always what gets people.  David and Jesus, both shepherds and both sacrificial lambs of some kind.

David and his relationships with the women and his best friend always intrigued me.  I cannot wait until we get to the festival.  LOL
