How exciting Charlene!!!
I bet you are a mix of emotions.  Well, you've waited for this day, and here it is.  I'm sooo happy for you.  I will offer a prayer for an uneventful surgery and easy recovery.

Charlene,
My very best wishes for you with your surgery. I hope your surgery is uneventful and your recovery is speedy. I had my surgery less than a week ago, so am among the newest on the Loser's Bench. I checked, and there's a nice place just waiting for you!

Let me say the best of luck to you. After surgery if someone comes in with something for you to take, i.e., medication, be sure to question them if you are not sure you should be given it. The day following my surgery my potassium was low, a nurse came in with 3 potassium pills for me to take--I questioned her about them as I was told all pills were to be crushed-these were whole, she said I was to take them, which I did, dumb me, and needless to say they did not go down but got stuck in the opening, I had to have IV fluids as I couldn't drink anything for quite a while, but after about 5 hours they passed but it sure was an uncomfortable feeling. Come to find out, that nurse was not a regular with the bariatric patients only a float and was dismissed from the floor. If you have any questions, always ask. I had surgery 9/15/08, started at 288, now down to 182, it doesn't seem possible but I wish I had done it 5 years ago, I am 63 now but feel 43. You will have days when things don't look very good, but just remember, things will get better each hour that passes and before long you will feel like taking on the world. Good luck, think positive and don't look back. Your new life is about to begin. Sandra

Charlene,

I haven't been here for over a week, and saw your post about your upcoming surgery.  You go girl - lol - I can't wait to come back and hear about your success.  I'm a week away from my surgical consult and heading into month #4 of the required weight loss meetings.  I'm getting VERY NERVOUS and I'm not really that close yet, so I can imagine how you are feeling.  You're going to do great!  Lots of luck to you.  Everyone here is so supportive.

Blessings,  Debbie
