Haircolor nightmare!

Aloha my friends and sister/brothers....Oh dear.....Here I am at my computer at 2:30 in the afternoon Maui time with color seeping into my hair....and it looks RED!! I know this is not one of life's more substantial worries, and I'm laughing as I type this...but what am I going do to if I end up with RED hair?? I'm not like Janet, who looks gorgeous with red hair...I would look like a tall, skinny carrot, or matchstick....LOL!

I decided this afternoon that it was time to color my hair and went into my supplies and took out one that said "light ash blond." Uh huh....well...as I sit here....I am looking at bright red stuff on my head. Susan, Carla....what do I do? I will shower it out in about 15 minutes, and maybe, just maybe, I'll not look like a clown head....but just keeping my fingers crossed.

At least I'm laughing here........and that is a good thing. Happy to share one of life's silly moments with you all!

Aloha nui loa,

Karen, imagine my surprise when I "highlighted" my hair and it turned blonde. I am a natural redhead and as I got older it turned brownish color. Well, when my niece highlighted my hair it turned so pretty but I got the wrong color this time and it was totally blonde........but everyone loved it. I am just glad that I had the redhead coloring.....pretty much none!

Let us know how it turns out.......it might be something that you really like.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Aloha Brenda....Oh my ... a natural redhead....why in the world would you want to change that? There are so few of those beautiful reds......and they are so lovely.

Well.......it turned out OK.......ash blond actually.......surprised me to the max.

Take a deep breath......

You're sure the box said light ash blonde?  Sometimes when the color hasn't had a chance to oxidize(air getting to it to make the chemical reaction), it will look different while processing.

Send me an e-mail. It's faster!

Aloha darlin....Oh, I wish you had been here!! I held my breath for 35 minutes.......and then showered, and thank god it turned out OK. My friend and I are so lucky to have our hairdresser come to our homes and she's coming next Monday, and I wanted to have my hair at least the same color from root to tip.....and it now is. Not red!!'

Someday I want you to come and color my hair for me!! Please!!

I'm so glad things worked out with your color, my friend!

I have a special family/friend discount that I offer to very special people.....I'll do you hair for free, cut, color, highlights, whatever you want, you just have to come to me or buy me a plane ticket   LOL!

Love you, honey!

And as I found out, sometimes if the color gets old, it changes shades. I go to a salon and have it done blond, and twice, it's turned brown, the mousy brown that my hair had turned naturally (and for this I was paying?) The stylist showed me the color on my chart and on the tube, but both times, my hair was too dark. She said sometimes the tubes are old, so maybe that's what happened with your supplies? Don't know.

Aloha Eileen....I have never gone to a salon to have my hair colored....I would be so pissed if it turned out badly and I had paid a bunch of money for it. At least if I do it myself...I have only myself to kick in the buh-tocks.....Ha! I'm actually rather OK with the color that happened......rather ashy blond.

What did you pay to have your hair colored at a salon? I will put that into my "shoebox" for something else.....Ha!

Prices vary all over the country, and of course depends a lot on the experience of the stylist and the location of the salon.

My basic color/cut is $90, full highlights start at $85, not including the cut/style($45 more). Some of my clients tab gets to the $130-150 range. If I have a corrective color, usually a situation where someone has messed up their own color at home, I charge $75 an hour to fix it.

Color/highlights/cut was $90, and I only do that every 3-4 months when my hair gets really long (for me, when my bangs start falling in my eyes). I'm afraid to do my color myself; I'm afraid it would turn green. When it went wrong, they redid it for free.

Glad the color turned out OK in the end.
