Home From Surgery

Hi everyone,
I had my RNY yesterday and got home around 3 this afternoon.  I was up and walking last night, again at 5 this morning (couldn't sleep) and a couple more times before I left the hospital.  The nurses seemed pleasantly surprised that I was moving around as good as I was.  Honestly, it felt better than laying in the hospital bed.  Anyway, I'm on clear liquids until Friday afternoon, then start my protein shakes.  Currently, I'm only drinking 2 ounces per hour and that's about all my little pouch can handle at the moment.  I'm starting to have gas pains and I hope walking helps get it out.  Well, I'm a little tired right now, so I'm going to walk around the house a bit, then going to lay down.  Talk to you all again soon.

Charlene,

My goodness, home already?  That's GREAT!  I hope you continue to feel good.  I'm really looking forward to the day when I can come here and say I'm home and feeling great.  I still have about three months or so yet.

Have a great evening.

Sounds like you're doing just fabulous, Charlene!
Welcome to the losers' bench.
Glad things went well for you. Keep sipping and walking; things will sort themselves out in time.

Welcome to the losers' bench. Yes, walking will help alleviate the gas. In fact, at the hospital where I had my surgery, the nurses woke us every two hours to make us walk the halls in our lovely hospital gowns (but at least they were made for obese patients ... they covered every inch of us).

Keep up the good work and you'll do fine.

Great To see you home so soon!! Yes, Walking is the best thing for relieving the Gas
as well as the Air they pump in you during the surgery itself. If we realized how much
equipment they actually have inside us while we are out we would be amazed. I watch
one of the surgeries on video once. Quite a shock what they do. That is why you will'be sore for a few days & that does go away. Just a quick little reminder even when you get that energy back & you start feeing realy=ly good take it easy, This is real surgery & your body needs to adjust.  Hold on tight the ride is just beginning.
Weight till you see your followup appt & that first weight loss shows up & keeps going
down, down, down. Rest & talk to us soon on how you are doing?

Home is a grand place to be, especially when you are doing so well.  I'm dazzled!!  What trooper you are.  I love that you have embraced the walking, and hope it helps relieve the gas pains.  Blessings to you on a continuing recovery.

Walking with you on this journey, Mary

Welcome to the loser's bench. It is a great place to be without a doubt. Enjoy all the wonderful things that are going to be happening in your new and glorious life!

It seems like you are doing wonderful and all I can do is echo everyone else and say.....sip and walk and sip and walk. Before you know it the whole thing becomes second nature to you.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
