What's new Thursday?
Hi Nanny,
I don't mind the rambling.... however, where/what/why are the Feds at your work? what kind of work? Very interesting situation. Share only what you can... of course.
I'm so sorry your step-son won't have anyone there for him. Nothing worse than being on their own at such a big event. I'm sitting in at a school play tonight for my granddaughter. They have the worst acting group ever... uggh, but she is wanting family there; so off I go...
I have to muse about the scales: its not the love hate I have with them (mine/clinics) its the love hate relationship with the fridge. sigh, it beckons to me always. The scale just shows how I've been wooed by the fridge and how often...
Have a fun day..... Millie

11 AM here and I am enjoying the peace and quiet. They found a large tumor in Liz's(DD) father in law and have given him 30-60 days. So sad. I am going to try and put a picture that was taken of Hunter yesterday in my profile, it is so cute, taken on a neighbors cell phone so a little blurry. He is such a sweet baby, but he is a mover, I am afraid when he gets mobil we are all in for the ride of our lives. I am lving having time with him, but seems I spend all my time, going to get him or drop him off. I am off tomorrow for eye appointments for Mom and myself, then going to order new glasses. I have something going every day this weekend. planting flowers at church, some friends picnic, Memorial day service for Legion. Hoping to find the time and $$ to relax at the movies with my mom sometime. I have been so busy with others that she is feeling neglected, and she passive agressively lets me know it ( with a sigh and the marter treatment) To He!! with the fact that maybe I could use some just me time. Don't mind me, I am so glad I still have her in my life. Guess I had better get some work done,. Which reminds me !! My new boss thinks I should know and Do everything. I know a lot but she is the boss, If I was to do everything she does they would not need her.( although I DID doit all for 2 months before they hired her) So I have started telling her when she wants me to do something that is her job"Thats why they pay you the big bucks" I will get this lady trained yet.. Have a wonderful day, Make it GOOD

Aloha OFF family......Eileen, it's always nice to have you start thread and hear about your day. It's hell waiting for that check to arrive, huh. I just threw a hissy fit a couple of weeks ago when my American Express bill came and the interest rate went up to 28%!! I only use it at Costco, and I immediately paid it off with another card that has a 6.9% rate, and wrote on the American Express bill what I thought about their incredible gouging in a time when people are struggling.
I've had a good week with my part time job at the hospital screening the newborns. I've filled in a couple of times for other screeners and so accumulated more hours than usual. I had 8 babies yesterday morning......and they ranged from 2.0 lbs. (this baby had to be transported to Honolulu to NICU) to a 10 lb. little local baby boy who was a chunker and so cute. The polynesian children are so beautiful......and I should be out there taking photos of them more because they make such gorgeous subjects.
Yesterday morning I went out on the lanai to get a couple hours of sun but there was NO WIND and it was HOT, so I scrapped that idea and came inside to read. Today I begin taking care of a kitty for a woman who lives upstairs. She is going to Kauai to her other home for a few days and this little kitty gets so lonely when she's gone. Her name is Shady Lane....and she has become my little furry friend. I go into her condo and call her name and she is all over me!! We sit in a recliner by the huge windows overlooking the ocean and "talk" for a half hour. I always hate to leave because she follows me to the door and cries. I am such a softy when it comes to animals.....I hate to have them sad, hurt, anxious, etc. My son always chides me and says, "Mom, they are JUST CATS!!" Well......to me they are much more....so there, kid!!
And rambling seems to be the theme today....Ha! Thanks for letting me ramble, and I agree with those who have said sometimes it really helps to get "stuff" out and not let it simmer into something bad like eating, getting sick, etc.
NOW I'm going out on the lanai for awhile......it's a beautiful day and finally some trade winds to keep me a little bit cool.

Karen:
Maybe the credit card companies won't be able to do that anymore with the new law. I don't worry about that anymore because I have no credit cards, nor will I have any even when I get out of bankruptcy. I have learned my lesson the hard way.
I love sitting and talking to kitties. My Scooter was never a bigger meower, until lately, since Diva has been gone. Now he meows all the time to me. Last night in bed, he came up to me and started meowing and then snuggled up to me and purred and licked my arm, then kept meowing, as if he was telling me a story to help me sleep. It was kind of funny.

Aw, so sweet your Scooter "talking" to you. They really are trying to tell us a story I think. My ex had our "Scooter" and he was such a love......and my ex about had a breakdown when he died. He loved that kitty so much....like a child.
You are smart NOT to get any credit cards. I only have two that I use and plan on paying them down to almost nothing. However, they are now saying that they are going to PENALIZE people who pay off their cards every month. How ridiculous is that???
Give that little Scooter a kiss from Åuntie Karen.

Hi Karen,
We had an "interesting" experience with Citibank a couple of months ago. I had been telling my husband to be really careful about getting payments out on time etc etc. I had seen a show on Oprah talking about how the credit card companies were really ripping people off. Well, I know he thinks "she's watched too much Oprah." And anyway, I was looking through the bills and noticed that our interest rate had jumped from 0% to 44.8 % !!!!! I showed Tom and he about choked. Called them up and found out that our on-line banking had messed up a payment and that yes they had upped the interest. Well, it took about 4 separate phone calls, very stern phone calls, before we got the interest changed back and finance charges dropped. We had to keep on them as they would say everything was fine but it wasn't. Paid that card off and got rid of it. We still have a card with a small balance as we have heard that if you pay them off some are closing your account and we need one for emergencies. I can't believe what crooks they are....it is just awful!
I love that you wrote them a sweet message!
