What's new Saturday?
Chat away.....
Good morning, everyone! Im still lurking & reading too.
Been so busy...my greeting card illustrations were launched in NYC last weekend and Im anxious to know how they were received! If these greeting cards are successful, our children's book "My Mummy Is Sick" that I illustrated could be REFUNDED and reprinted...yayy! We sold out last time.
I've been selling my Mandala Colouring Books for Adults too and now I have to reprint them again...I ran out! Meanwhle m also busy presenting Mandala Workshops for De-Stressing. Meditation, and Art Therapy.
I'm on the midst of forming a non-profit organization to encourage "Women of Maturity" to live their lives to the fullest instead of sitting on the porch knitting in their rocking chair...my point is, THERE'S A CHOICE! I'd that is what they WANT to do, that's great. However, older women have such life experiences and skills that they have so much that they can share and give back to their community!!
I've been invited to a big meeting in the city on May 29th with several hundred heads of community organizations and political parties and services as President of BPW.
However, I will be presenting the Manifesto for my non-profit Maturity Initiative Organization...to encourage, empower and to support "Women of Maturity"... (of course, men are welcome too but seem to be less-inclined to participate).
This will involve many workshops with excellent speakers, empowering seniors with information on how to keep from being scammed, where & how to get involved, how to find ways to feel good about themselves, how to feel confident, how to continue to learn and to teach their skills to others and share their experiences.
I've also prepared a series of Workshops and I have booked TWO High Teas...one June 18th for 26 sorority ladies and another June 21st for men & women for a Spiritual Afternoon Tea (no, NOT religious in any way) including Inter-active Spiritual Discussion, a Mandala Workshop, and complete elegant High Tea and an hour of spiritual counselling on health & emotional healing.
These are being held at a beautiful old mansion ..a Bed and Breakfast. Classes will be held out on the elegant wrap-around verandah and in the gardens. (a HIGH TEA is a full meal including various specialty teas, fancy tiny sandwiches, cold soup, salad and many tiny desserts all served with beautiful linens and elegant bone china tea cups and saucers and table service in the garden).
Mother turns 90 this Fall and I'm trying to tour the local retirement homes with assisted living. She is beginning to show signs of lapsed memory and less mobility tho her walker is a Godsend for her. Because the Niagara Region has a very high senior population, it is imperative that I get her on a waiting list in case she needs more personal care than she does right now. If I cannot get her on a list, and she gets ill, she will spend her days in a hospital bed and I know that she will deteriorate quickly, languishing there while waiting for a residence.
We have a big side split home and she cannot even visit anymore..she cannot handle the stairs or even stepping up and into the front door. lol..besides, we would kill each other or drive each other crazy!
Ive been doing many presentions about my business and signing on a number of new clients regularly. However, many of them are in the downtown core and I have difficulty finding a parking spot nearby and with my severe lymphodema in both legs, it's pretty difficult to walk any distance on hard surfaces like concrete sidewalks. On Wednesday, I had THREE presentations, each in different areas of the city..all three equally difficult to find parking (this is part of why I'm a COUNTRY mouse!).
But at each event, I won a draw or the 50-50 draw! (I should have gone and bought a lottery ticket too but after those 3 events, I did the grocery shopping too and got home at 7 pm, exhausted and my swollen legs so sore & throbbing that I would have cheerfuly gnawed them off with my teeth!
I slept poorly and had to be out of town for a 9 am meeting (trust me..Im a NIGHT person...not a DAY person... and 9 am is about when Im just rolling over) so this weekend is catchup time for resting!
Except that now we were invited to go out for dinner at the Red Lobster with friends, the wife being an old friend of mine since we were 16 yrs old.
Well, my son the bouncer is finally home and Im headed to bed...wake me up on Monday, okay?

You are simply an amazing woman! Hope that your many projects continue to go in the positive direction that they seem to be in!

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

Yet another beautiful day here on the East Coast! I actually don't have any set plans for today and I think it will just be a do as I want, go with the flow kind of a day. I'm sure I will find something to do though, because there is plenty that can be done around here, just have not formulated any plans as of this writing.
So I think I will just say, hope wherever you are, you are having a good day!

Just going to get groceries today and hopefully getting some chores done around here. Tom had finally finished our bedroom so I need to hang some pictures and organize a few things. Then clean house and my last big big to do is filing the stacks and stacks of papers. When I get these things done, I think I will finally be back in the swing and will be able to do some serious scrapbooking. I think I figured out that having all this "mess" and stuff to do was keeping my creative side stuffed inside. I just cannot do the "fun" stuff when everything is in disarray. When I was a single mom going to college, I remember having to have the whole house spotless before I could do homework...and then I did it and did really well...So, if I can just get these things done and out of the way I can enjoy the thing that gets me in the "zone."
The weather is wonderful. I am thankful for my life on this lovely morning.
Have a good Saturday all,
Cheryl

This is gonna be a good weekend I think. Hubby is working today, but tomorrow after church we are leaving for Evansville to spend Sunday evening and Monday with my sister, the one I found on the internet after 24 years. We will take her out for dinner and get a motel room for the night. She lives in a little 2 room apartment for now. We have her name on a waiting list for a subsidized apartment near us, but her name hasnt come up yet. They have assured us it could be any time though. We are so anxious for her to get moved here, we have so much to make up! She is 71 years old, but you would never know it. As it is we talk on the phone often and are amazed at how we are so much alike. We are having so much fun getting reaquainted.
On the way home Monday afternoon we will stop and decorate family graves in Carlisle and Merom Indiana. I love the ride through the country, and hope it doesnt rain.
Had a lot going on here lately. My grandson, the one who went to to the Indian Reservation in Montana last fall, is home and doing great. He has made a complete turn around and turned into a wonderful, polite and sweet young man. All the angst and anger is gone. I guess that 9 months of reservation life "scared him straight!" He turned 18 Tuesday so we had a party for him.He has a job and is finishing his schooling as well, we are so proud of him. Then my other grandson, 18 also, is graduating Friday so we are busy with preparations for that. My granddaughter Larissa graduated from college so had that to celebrate too. A busy but happy time recently for the family.
Been working on the eating and the exercise recently, and its working. Losing again, albeit slowly, but theres no hurry anyway. Just wanna lose this ten pounds that I have gained.
We live in a small town in Indiana, but there have been developments lately that are scary, Yesterday the high school was on lock down again, last week it was a bomb scare, dont know what it was yesterday. My daughter lives in Plainfield, just a few miles from here, and her son goes to the middle school there. Wednesday it was on lock down as well, a couple of men came into the school with guns. Now that is scary. We have never had anything like this in our community. Just shows ya how the times are changing and no one is immune.
Well, I'm gonna go get dressed and take these dogs out, then grab antoher cup of coffee.
Hope everyone has a great Memorial day weekend. Grill a burger, take a drive, and remember loved ones.
Blessings
Betsy

Well, today is going to be spent doing laundry and then a cook out at Shawn and Carol's. This one was totally unexpected and I have to say I am not really looking forward to it at all. Some of Linda's family is going to be there and I just want a nice and quiet day not one of bickering and nasty things being said. That is her family in a nutshell. Shawn said that most have plans but that means that there is going to be some of them. All I can say is if things are said I am just coming home. I will come myself if Bill doesn't want to leave and I will come get him. I have to know that I have that option. When I don't feel good I just can't tolerate things to be off balance.
Today is going to be a bit cooler but it is still beautiful. No two ways about that.....the sun is shinning and the birds are singing and chatting with one another. I love the sounds of spring along with the smell of it too. The scent of lilacs (but they weren't so prominent this spring) and all the flowers that are growing and coloring the yards. The sounds of the kids out enjoying the nice warm weather are sounds that music to our ears. I am sure you all get the drift.
I guess I should get moving. I have so much to do and it sometimes seems like no time to do it in. Have a wonderful day and know that I am sending love and hugs to all along with prayers being said. Don't forget to spread some of the sunshine in your life to those around you. It will bring happiness to those people and to you too.
