Hi Everyone,
Brenda Im going to call you soon when we Nan and Me are driving to Ft Collins.
I am having a ton of fun.
nanand I went camping for 2 days in Dillon colorado. I pitched the tent and took out all of the camping fear and we camped for 2 days. I burned my nose in the fire, being the piromaniac I am.
Alos the first night we ended up sleeping in my car cause the airmatress wouldnt hold the air. and It was colder than I thought. the second night was much better.
i am over my cough and bladder infection. I went to the urgent care isn Michigan for the cough and was put on prednisone, I gained 15 pounds from it. Now 8 is gone. Then I was still sick so I went to my doctor that is here in Denver and he put me on an antibiotic for both the lung infection and bladder infection. So I am doing better today.
laureen it was nice to here from you. ARe you going to come to nans the 4th of July?
Well I need to get dressed.
Carla

Hi Linda and my OFF family:
Linda, good to see you again. I loved hearing about your trip. It sounded fantastic. I would love to go on a trip like that someday.
Long night at work. One of the copy desk guys, Mike, took the buyout and is leaving next Thursday, so this was his last Friday night working. We didn't realize that until we started talking to him about it. He's a sweetie. Never complains about anything (unlike me, I complain about everything). When you ask him how he's doing, he says, "Smooth." So we call him Mr. Smooth. Anyway, after all the desk folks had gone for the night, I had to sit there and help sports. It was after 12:30 when I left. My knee and back hurt and I was really tired by the time I got home.
Back to work tonight again, then again on Sunday ... yawn! It's going to be a long weekend.

I had a wonderful time in Galveston last weekend and got to have a wonderful visit with two great friends, TerryT and Linda Barnett. Hated to come home. Terry was nice enough to let me come to her new and improved AFTER IKE home... boy, Uncle Ike sure was nice to her.....good insurance and it looks GREAT.
There was a RYD Obesity Conference there and I drove down on Thursday and met Linda Barnett on Friday. She lives about an hour away from Galveston in the Houston area. We spent part of the afternoon in our swimsuits with an umbrella and two chairs on the beach.... reading and wading in the Gulf of Mexico... Heaven...
I didn't see all of the island but it appears that they have worked very hard to at least clean up the outsides so they could get the tourist industry back. They've done a great job.
We stayed at the San Luis Resort Hotel... oh my.... absolutely gorgeous... and the pool area was spectacular... and the 'real estate' wasn't bad... I will tell you that if you sunburn, benadryl, lidocaine and a chocolate martini will make you sleep like a baby.
Learned a lot at the conference and confirmed a lot... one is... good friend on the TMB is having MAJOR issues with vitamin deficiency... has lost her short term memory and they don't know if she will get it back... vitamin infusions now.
One of the speakers, a therapist, said that you had to have a good and active sex life... by yourself or with a partner... I'm dying right on the vine...:)
Work was great this week... it's my only life and I love it...
But today.... $4 this morning and then went to DRUM ROLL PLEASE..... Plant Shed... now in all the years you've known me you've NEVER heard me say anything about working in my yard... but I bought 36 tiles to start a walkway and 54 of those piece thingees of sod and laid them in the yard in TWO hours!! Shoot me now.
I sweated just enough that the tan I got in Galveston has now turned to peel... so I'm headed for the shower to get the rest of it off..
Will work on the 12 loads of laundry laying in my living room and try to find where I put the kitchen...
No clue for tomorrow...
Have a good day today and be safe.
Janet

Aloha my nutty friend "Red"........I always am happy when I see you post.......even if it's only two lines!! And....hey...that therapist who said you NEEDED an active sex life....well...pooh oh her/him!! That sure wasn't part of my training as a therapist........and although I think it sure sounds like something that would bring relief (Ha!)...I don't think it's going to make you crazy NOT to have sex!!
Having said that....I DO believe that we should NOT forget to keep up with our vitamins/minerals....and water!!
So glad you posted! I miss you when you aren't "visible."
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen

Well, actually, my Maui Friend.... It doesn't make me crazy not to have sex...what she said was...it was healthier to have that in your life... I'll rate that somewhere down the list after the vitamins, calcium, B-12, etc...
Problem with me and sex is this... I tend to take it seriously when somebody pokes fun at me....

Aloha Linda and OFF family.......Linda..sounds like you have a perfect weekend planned. For some reason Memorial Day has always meant the beginning of summer to me, and Labor Day the end. Summer on Maui is very different from winter........winter being my favorite. Because of the economy, we are really hurting for visitors, and there are bargains to be had everywhere!!!
This morning I woke just before the sun was getting ready to make "her" appearance, and it was oh so beautiful out on the ocean. It was smooth as glass and there was a "surfboard paddler" out there who was outlined in the early morning light with this orange/yellow glow behind him....very awesome!! (surfboard padding has become the newest fitness craze on Maui.......you stand on the board and use a long paddle to move about...it looks painful to me!) It is so still this morning....not a hint of a breeze......which tells me it's going to be a HOT day and maybe even an A/C day. I rarely turn on A/C because usually the trade winds blow enough to keep us cool here where I live...but when there is no wind, it can get very warm.
It's 7:30 a.m. right now and I just went upstairs to take care of my kitty who I'm kitty sitting until Tues. Her name is Shady Lane and she has become my bud. When I first unlock the door and walk in...nothing...no sound. Then I say her name...."Shady Lane? Where are you, Shady Lane?" and she bounds down the stairs and practically into my arms. All the while I'm putting out her food, cleaning her litter box, giving her treats on the counter, she is "talking" to me and waiting for her "chair time." There is a recliner right by the beachfront door, and that's where we "commune." Ha! She would like me to stay forever, and I always feel guilty when I have to leave her there alone. I think I'm going to tell her mom that she needs a sister or brother!!
Happily this is going to be a peaceful, quiet Memorial Day weekend. I have friends here who got up at 4:00 a.m. to drive to the top of Haleakela (our volcano) to watch the sunrise from up there. It IS spectacular when there are no clouds...and this morning it is clear as a bell up there. They are leaving today, so this will be a great send off for them.
Our own Karen C will be here on Maui in less than two weeks! I hope this weather stays as perfect as it has been. It will be wonderful to see her again.
So, for now.......aloha everyone, and I hope your weekend is wonderful and that something surprising and exciting happens to you.

Aloha Linda......I would ask Karen C how she got her incredible deal .....very good airfare and included room at a nice hotel in Kaanapali.
If you are interested in something with a condo, kitchen, beachfront, etc.....try www.maalaeabay.com. My kids stay at Makani A Kai when they come or Hono Kai.....both are so reasonable right now.
