WHAT'S NEW SUNDAY EDITION

Hi, All.  It's a few minutes after midnight and I see that no one has started the thread for today so I thought I would.  I'm getting ready to head for bed.

Hope that everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Tomorrow morning we're having breakfast with our mom's.  This past Monday our "kids" were here (our son, his wife, and their two children) and we all (with our mom's) spent some time at the local aquarium.  Our soon-to-be four years old grandson had a ball.  His baby sister (a year old this coming July) was wide eyed too.  It was fun.  Afterwards, we went for burgers and then they headed back to their rental condo in nearby Lincoln City.  They live in Vancouver, WA and love to come to Lincoln City for some beach time.  We're about 40 minutes outside of Lincoln City -- so not too far.

Anyway, we enjoyed ourselves.  It was nice.

Post away.

Hi all,

I have had a sour tummy for several days now.  I think my issues with drink is soon over.  This is just a warning sign to stop the nonsense.  Anyway, today is hopefully a peaceful day.  I have lots of great things coming up in the near future.  Have you ever had the secret prayers of your heart answered?  It is so cool that this is actually happening in this small, rural town up in north central PA!  I just wish the debt ending prayer would be answered lol

Anyway, it is a great day!

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Off to early church and Bible Class in a while, then not much on my agenda for today....may go to see "Angels and Demons" this afternoon
(and yes, I will go by myself if I can't find anyone else).

The plants at the Amish greenhouse were the nicest I've ever seen.
Large green and healthy looking geraniums were $2.60/ea. - I got four red and two white, then some bluish petunias and another blue flower I can remember the name of, so I have red/white/blue pots and they look great.   I also picked up a butterscotch colored daisy plant that I still have to put in the ground, probably will find a spot in the veggie garden.

We had a bit of rain yesterday and much cooler temps.  I found a couple sleeveless tops at Walmart for $7/ea. and will only wear them here at the house -- bat wings, ya know!

My bff gave me a series of four books by a lady who writes about the Amish - Wanda Brunstetter.   They are lovely reading and good stories
w/o all the other "stuff".

Guess I better get my protein shake made and then get dressed for church.....

Have a blessed day, stay safe if you are traveling, and enjoy the rest of the weekend.   My DS and DIL are in Indy for the race and it looks like they are going to get rained on....darn.

Good morning Cindy and my OFF friends,

Od dog got me up at 5:00. Sure would have liked to sleep later on my day off, but what the heck. I'm watching something on the History Channel and catching up on the boards, so it's not all bad.

Worked all day yesterday instead of just half of the day. That's okay too, made some extra money to make up for the 2 cancelations and one no-show client this week. It's going to start raining again today, maybe a couple of inches, so we'll be inside I guess.

Cindy, the aquarium sounds like fun, especially when you have little ones with you. I'd love to drive down to the big one in Atlanta sometime. Hmmmm sounds like an idea to toss out to Gary.

Well, the espresso machine is calling my name. I'll check back in with you all later. Hope everyone's Sunday is a great one!

We took the M&M's to a playground near their home. Miss M loves to pick flowers so she and I spent time gathering flowers. Poppa and Little Mr M played on the swings.

There was a crack of thunder and the rains came down. It has been terribly dry here - wouldn't you know it had to rain THEN.

We took shelter in the toy bus. It is made of wood, no sides. Miss M kept sticking her head out because she wanted to "taste the rain".

Hail began to pelt us, about the size of large marbles. We each grabbed a kid and ran for the van. Ouchies, it hurt. They had never experienced hail and asked what was happening. I tried to explain hail - they looked puzzled.  Tom said " Ice Cubes". That, they understood.

When we got home the sun was shining. The M&M's ran to their Mom and excitedly told her all about ice cubes pouring down. Hail was the high point of their outing.

Kisses

Annette,

On our way up the mountain, my four-year-old grandson asked me why the clouds had fallen out of the sky. What he was seeing was fog.  He wanted me to pull over and let him touch the clouds, which I did.  LOL. Then, yesterday, I spent about two hours with the two at the park. The baby is now the same age the boy was before I had wls.  I will tell you this, it was so much nicer being able to chase after her, climb up on the slide, and carry her around the park than how it was with Mathew when DH had to do it all and I just sat and watched.  After the park, we came home and I took them to the back yard where I sprayed them down to get all the sand off and that turned into about an hour of me spraying them and letting them spray each other.  Today, the only parts of me that hurt are my feet and they are killing me.

If it doesn't rain, we are heading back to the park.  Tomorrow I will take them home.  My poor kitty does not like the kids.  Well, the truth is, she doesn't like anyone but hubby and me.  So, she hides from them, hisses at them, and, if she gets a chance, boxes them with her paw.  She is polite and doesn't use her claws.  The children are still asleep and Kitty is in my lap all snuggled up and purring and, I'm sure, happy the kids are still asleep.  Reall, I join her in that one.

Jeannie,

Life is fascinating through the eyes of the youngsters. Everything is new and a wonder to them. Their curiosity is open and honest.

The four year old will always remember the day grandma let him touch the clouds. You will too.

Happy Holiday Morning Cindy and Everyone!

Yesterday was beautiful, this morning, rain! I see it starting to clear so it might turn out OK after all.  If it does, I'm heading over to the cemetery to put a flag on the grave of Wallace Samsel.  I found his stone while doing research there--he was a POW in Germany, WWII, in Stalag 7A at Moosburg, Bavaria.  It was the largest POW camp in Germany.  Built to house 10,000, it held over 110,000 at time of liberation.

I never met Wallace, but felt a connection to him the moment I saw "Prisoner of War" engraved on his headstone.  I was able to track down his son and we had some wonderful conversations and he sent me some photos.  Ever since I discovered his grave in 2004 I've kept it tended as his family does not visit.

At the time Wallace was released he weighed just 90 lbs, and spent a year recovering at the VA hospital here. Throughout his life he suffered from nightmares and cold sweats bound to his ordeal.

I can go on and on about Wallace, but will cut it short here.  This man was truly a part of the Greatest Generation and I salute him for what he did for his country.

Take time to remember.....

Elaine

All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press
on to your destination.
