Here it is Monday, Memorial Day - so WHAT'S NEW with you?

Morning all....
It's a lot cooler here this morning and only to get up to around 70 deg.
That's ok with me, cause I'll be outside getting six bags of mulch spread in my gardens.

Hoping to have a cuppa decaf with Margo this morning on her way back to Ohio.

Didn't make it to the movie yesterday, may go tonite if I'm not too tired...  Watched the Memorial Day Program from the Capital on PBS last evening and always get tears.....it was very moving.   We have so much to be thankful for and our vets deserve all the honor we can bestow on them.....my late husband was a WW2 vet and proud he had served his country.

Birds are chirping away this morning -- what a lovely song!

Have a pleasant day and be safe if you are traveling.

Hi George and my OFF family:

Congrats to the Rangers. They are playing well. My Sox, well, that's another matter. They were winning in the 8th inning 3-1, then the bullpen blew it ... an 8th inning homer, then two runs in the ninth inning by their closer with two outs. And his reaction? "Well, if I only blow one save out of 11, I guess I'm doing pretty good." Well, yeah, but that's a little lackadaisical.

Work was going pretty good last night until the end. I was doing a page I wasn't familiar with ... the person who knew how to do it gave me tips on it and even proofed it for me. Then, at the end, she said, "Oh, you're missing the flag." So, right at deadline, I had to move everything down. And that's not easy with our system. You move copy down, it bounces back up. It was a real pain. I swore a lot, said a few choice words, blew up at the person who didn't tell me the right thing to do early before I got the page to work. Then I apologized for all the nasty things I said. She understood. I knew something was missing, just didn't know what. Don't ya just hate that?

I'm just beat after working six days in a row. I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying home, watching baseball, doing laundry, grilling a steak indoors, drinking a beer, reading, cleaning litter boxes, catching up on my rest. Knee hurts, back hurts, neck hurts ... what doesn't hurt? Maybe my fingers. My body needs a break. Just going to spend time with the kitties and the TV.

As for Memorial Day, we had a good story in our paper about old soldiers and PTSD ... makes me wonder if my dad had it. He never talked about WWII, except when my oldest brother had No. 4 in the draft for Vietnam, and my dad said he'd send him to Canada if he had the money, wouldn't wish a war on any of his kids. So that tells me he didn't have fond memories of his service. We found his Purple Hearts in the attic one day and he wouldn't look at them. He wasn't proud of them at all. He drank a lot when he got back, partly because his fiancee dumped him while he was gone. Then his friends hooked him up on a blind date with my mom, and the rest is history.

Hope all have a good day. It's 67 here now, but the pollen is still high, so I have the windows and door closed yet.

Boo hoo, Margo was running way behind schedule and couldn't
stop to say hi......darn, I was so looking forward to seeing her.

Mulch is down, but need probably four more bags.....south beds
didn't get any on at all....Preen on the other beds to keep the
weeds away.   Nice young guy from church came and cleaned
out my clogged eve troughs on the patio and helped me wash
the big sliding screen door.  I'm tired - so no movie for me
tonite....did finish reading a book.  Hip is really starting to
bother me a lot, tried deadheading some spring flowers
and it hurt too bad to lean over to cut them off....another
day, maybe.

Good afternoon George and everyone......

I am having a really hard time after leaving Kyleigh (granddaughter) at Gerard Academy on Friday. It was much harder then I imagined it would be. I have spent most of the last few days in bed. I have no desire to do much of anything. I know it is the best possible place for her to be but that doesn't make it any easier to accept.
I need to pull my head out of my butt soon!!!!

I did go to my mom and dad's graves today. I put flower arrangements in their planters. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters and I am always the only one that gets it done. That is another story in it's self!!

Enough whining from me. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Love and hugs to all......connie d

Boy this board is quiet today, Monday.  I saw the movie "The Soloist" on Saturday.  It was so sad.  It is a story of LA's homeless population, about 90,000 people.  The shots of skid row are heart wretching.  The story is of a homeless man gifted with an amazing talent in music, but he is schizophrenic and cannot comprehend the help that is offered.  I don't know if it was such a good idea to see this film.  It's not entertainment as much as a "thinker."  Sunday we closed our church doors and went on a road trip to another church, yeah, the whole congregation.  We joined with a sister church that is struggling to survive and offered them our help and support.  Today has been quiet.  We've enjoyed a lazy day at home.  Started with a yummy treat for breakfast -- multigrain waffles with fresh strawberries...mmmmmm   Hope you enjoyed your game George, and that the girls are having a grand time together, and everyone else is okay.  Blessings to all.

Walking with you on this journey, Mary
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
