What are you eating and what's eating you? Thursday

Millie,

You gave me such a smile. In the beginning I had to set off alarms and whistles to eat, drink and exercise. Now there are the days when I don't find the alarms and whistles because I forget what I am looking for. Senior moments are fun.

Kisses

Aloha Darlin.....What a treat to see you posting here. I'm not a regular but lately I am needing to get back to the discipline I once had about eating. For almost two years, I had a pad beside the couch and wrote down EVERYTHING I ate and drank all day. I still have those notebooks and the are treasures to me. HOWEVER, I have long ago put them aside and eat hopefully a pretty good variety of foods without counting calories, carbs, proteins, fats, etc.

For instance....yesterday was :

B - raisin bran with a whole banana and 2% milk
S - Dark chocolate Zone bar with 1 cup 2% milk
L - 1/2 ham/cheese sandwich...grilled, 2 sweet pickles
S - watermelon
D - veggie lasagne (lots) with half a whole wheat bagel (extra cheese) I have the other half for tonight

Let's see....in addition to the above....I also had a skinny cow mint ice cream bar and a hand full of mixed nuts. For some reason, this works for me. If I go less calories, I lose VERY FAST....so it's a challenge to keep UP the intake. This is so different from the past when I had to keep consumption DOWN. I'm thankful that my doc gave me a plumbing job that seems to zap things through at supersonic speed so that it doesn't stick around long. Ha!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Karen,

My goodness, you have such a pleasing varity of foods. It does take a while to figure out the correct balance to keep our weight stable. You have perfected that balance.

Howdy Karen,I never had anything go through me so fast as when I ate those darn donuts,7 minutes flat, and I KNOW I will never eat them again.
Other than that strange occurance,my food has been good,I have to keep an eye on my protein though,as I tend to go low...
So good to see your lovely face.

Annette,

Thanks for doing this today.

I plan everything in advance.  I like doing it and I tend to be a bit compulsive anyway, but the main advantage is that when I plan in advance, I don't have to make a food decision when I'm too hungry to think straight.

B: coffee protein shake
S: iced skinny latte
L: lamb kebab, avocado & melon salad
S: cantaloupe
D: chicken sausage patty, zucchini with feta & mint
S: fresh cherries

Jean,
Every day I look at your menu in AWE. You have the most delicious meals. I applaud your cooking skills. Makes my bowl of cottage cheese & Kashi sound boring.

Annette,

I'm lucky.  I learned to cook from a professional chef when I was living in the UK at the tender age of 18.

When I first told my husband that I wanted WLS, he was terrified that meant I would never cook again.  Being able to plan and cook interesting meals has actually made this whole thing easier for me, because when I get bored (with food, or exercise, or whatever) is when I get off track.

Almost all of my meals are planned.  Breakfast is almost always a two egg omelet with cheese.

The other meals, I take to work with me, since I am gone from the house for 16 hours every day.  So, I have to plan what to take with me.  A lot of times Mary does the planning for me and has my lunch bag packed when I get up.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
