New Member wanting surgery at 65 yo
Welcome to OFF, you will find much knowledge and understanding here. I am so glad that you found us. Please post often so we can all get to know you and feel free to jump in anytime that you want to.
I don't think that there is a age that is "to old" for making your life better, happier and most of all healthier. Just jump in there feet first and start the process going. Remember that we are here to support you when you need it and to give the little push when that is needed too. Sometimes we all need a loving push.
Good luck on your journey to a new and wonderful life. One that is full of happiness, self love and great health! Keep us posted on how things are going and know that we are here for you.

Welcome!
I sure don't think 65 is too old.
It's my observation that older people are better at following instructions than a lot of youngsters are, and that's half the battle with any type of weight loss surgery.
Some surgeons won't accept a patient over 60 years old, but some do, depending on any medical conditions you have that might affect your ability to undergo surgery.
Did you know there's a lap-band forum here on OH? Come visit sometime!

Aloha.......I had my RNY surgery when I was 63....three years ago. I could not be happier with the results, and the changes this surgery has made to my life.
It has been my experience with support groups, etc. that we older "girls" do extraordinarily well on this journey. There are a couple who have had the surgery at 68 and they are renewed......have ceased to take high blood pressure meds, diabetes meds, etc.
I wish you the best of luck in getting this life-changing surgery.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
