Hi Susan and my OFF family:

It was sunny to start the day but now it's overcast ... supposed to rain today. It's Festival weekend so it always rains. Last year we had torrential downpours that washed out a road and killed two people when their car when over the washed-out road down to the lake. Very sad. Hopefully, the rain won't be that bad this time.

Work wasn't too bad last night. Got out of there at 11:30 p.m. Tonight, I have to be in at 3 p.m. because I'm doing the local section instead of sports. So I'll be busier, which will make the night go faster. I'm happier I'm doing news instead of sports. I like sports but let's say I'm not happy working in our sports section.

Well, not much else happening. I'm on the phone with Brenda. Have a good day.

Aloha my beautiful sister, Susan...and all of the rest of you wonderful OFF peeps.....

Well, yesterday I worked at the hospital and had 13 babies to test!! A bumper crop of little ones born the day before. Then I went to IMUA office to work and after a few hours I began feeling unwell........nausea, headache, etc. so I left early and came home to lay down. Not liking feeling ill, especially right now when Karen C. is on island.

I called them in the evening and they had had a wonderful day....even floating around in the ocean on air mattresses! It sounds as if they are really relaxing and letting the "Maui mood" settle them down and take them away.....like ... remember the Calgon commercial "Take me away!" Ha! I told them I wasn't feeling well and will stay home today and try and knock whatever this is out of my system so that I can go and spend some time with them tomorrow. Today (Sat.) they are going to take a shuttle into Lahaina and shop, plus they are going out on a submarine which will give them a great view of all the fishes (I hope they are still there...I haven't snorkeled for years!). I KNOW they will have a great day.

I'm worried about Linda........she is such a giving and beautiful woman and spirit. Hopefully she'll be back with us very soon.

Margo....by the time you read this...you WILL BE HOME!! I am so glad about that. I know this has been quite an adventure for you, and not all good....but soon you will be able to look back at it AS AN ADVENTURE.......and one that will help you make choices. I admire the hell out of you for being such a risk taker! I used to be, but have turned into a sponge in the past few years....a lazy sponge!!

"Susan, dear heart, don't be so hard on yourself. Your little "snacks" won't hurt you as long as you keep on top of thinking through why you are doing them. Evenings I find myself often wandering around picking up things like yogurt, mixed nuts, applesauce, skinny cow ice cream sandwiches, etc. So far, they have not made me gain weight so I'm not too worried about them.

A big ALOHA HUG to the rest of you. It is such a comfort to come in here every morning and find all the news........feels like have morning coffee with my family without going anywhere!!

I'll keep you informed of the adventures of "Karen C and Colleen" since they don't have a laptop with them. Hopefully I will be able to join them in the morning. Keeping fingers, toes and queasy tummy crossed!!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

I went to an outlet mall with my friend and went into Cold Water Creek and was trying on XS (estra small) tops, jackets and blouses! and size 8 pants were huge on me. I think their sizes run a little big ...
