Arthritis pain and meds
Congrats on getting approved for WLS and best wishes.
PS ... there is an Arthritis Forum on OH
I too have arthritis and fibromyalgia. My arthritis is in my knees and back ... plus degenerative disc disease in my back. I get shots in my back every three months, which help a lot. Losing 180 pounds helped tremendously too ... but I have prescriptions for vicodin, neurontin (for the DDD because it causes neuropathy and nerve pain that keeps me up at night); I also have a prescription for Elavil to help me sleep that helps my fibro. Tylenol is a waste of money for me. Since I had two knee replacements on one knee, I have lots of pain in my right knee (still!), and vicodin is about the only thing that helps it. I also have a prescription for tramadol, a less-sedating painkiller. I take that to work with me if I have problems. The vicodin is for when I'm at home.
There are non-drug ways of treating arthritis: acupuncture, massage, ice, heat ... these all work in some ways, and some insurance programs cover them **** and heat are free of course). Check with your insurance program to see what's covered. When you lose weight, you will notice a big difference.
Good luck!
