I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Aloha dear Margo.....I am SO HAPPY THAT YOU ARE HOME!! I'm sighing a big sigh of relief!! Home always seems so sweet whenever I go away.....and nowadays I don't want to go away...at all.
I'm eager to hear your impressions as you look back on your adventure from a distance. Rest, relax, enjoy your animals and being home.
With so much aloha,
Maui Karen

Aloha Pat and OFF family.......
Well, it's 6:20 a.m. here on Maui, and soon I'll be heading to Kaanapali to spend the morning with Karen C. and her friend, Colleen. I haven't been feeling well the past couple of days, so I'm not expecting to do any major snorkeling or walking, but I'm taking the gear anyway in case they would like to. I will be happy just sitting on the beach or by the pool .... close to a bathroom! Ha!
It is very warm here.......85 - 90, and at the end of the island where they are it is probably very very warm because there is seldom a breeze down there. Last night they were going to go out on the beach for the traditional torch lighting and watching the Hawaiian man dive into the ocean at sunset. I hope they enjoyed that. I think they are GOING AT A MAUI PACE and are now enjoying just soaking in the beauty and becoming part of the scenery...Ha. That's how is usually happens here.....a few days of busy busy, and then plop.....show me the beach or a chaise lounge by the pool and please bring me a mai tai and a few pupu!!
I'll let you know how it goes later, or tomorrow morning. This will be my only chance to be with them because tomorrow I am taking a friend to her surgeon for plastics on her face and then going to pick her up whenever she is finished. She is a plastic surgery nurse who helped me with my panniculectomy and so I'm returning the favor. She lives in my same building. Then Tues...the day Karen leaves, I have babies and work all day.
So, for now........have a great Sunday. I plan to with our very own sister, Karen C!!

Hi Pat and my OFF family:
It's overcast today but 74 ... or so my Weather Channel desktop says ... I think it feels cooler than that, so I haven't opened the screen door yet. I have salsa chicken cooking in the crockpot and it's just starting to smell good. Yum!
Last night at work was a real bear. First, the wires weren't working, so we had to call to get them fixed (for the second Saturday in a row). Then, I was supposed to be working the news desk, doing Region, but nobody told Sports. So Pete comes in, looks at me sitting at my desk and asks me what I'm doing there. I said I'm doing the Region section this week. He said, "Oh. What about sports?" I said, "You guys are on your own. I've been scheduled over here." Well, then he talks to Dan, our night news editor, and Dan asks me if I can give them a hand when I done with my pages, because they don't have enough people over there. That's bull, because everybody over there gets one page to do. I'm doing three pages over here, plus helping proofing. So I get done with my pages, and I'm hustling to get them done, and Dan and I are yelling at each other. Meanwhile, I'm trying to proof pages, finish up a sports page in time (and the wires aren't cooperating, because we're not getting all the golf stuff). It was just screwy. I can't wait for my boss to get back, because I want to let him know just how much I hate this arrangement working sports.
Not much going on with me today. My mom called and oh ... here's the big news! The sky is falling! My sister actually visited my mother for her birthday! Will wonders never cease? That's the first time in about five years (since my mom's 80th when we had a big birthday party). Oh my! Rosemary didn't even say happy birthday to me on my birthday, and she saw me! And she didn't send me a card, either. I told my mother that, and she said, "Oh, she probably forgot." Well, how she could she forget when everyone was giving me gifts and wishing a happy birthday when she was in the room? She's just a ***** and as we say in our family ... it's Rosemary being Rosemary (if you're a baseball ... it's a take on Manny being Manny).
Anyway, I need some lunch and have to turn on the Sox game. They actually scored some runs last night. Have a good day.

Hi Pat and the rest of you crazy Offers,
It's manic Sunday here- I'm doing a little cleaning to get ready for my Mom and any family that decides to come over. This arrangement has been working well so far. I'm sure it is helping my Mom to feel more connected now that her "boyfriend" has died. She has outlived 5 of her husband/boyfriends. And a couple were quite a bit younger than she. I'm planning on developing a really good network of women friends (I have a good group already) for my retirement pleasure... the men just don't seem to last. And I plan to reach a ripe old age now that I feel so much better with all of this weight gone!
I went to K-Mart today to take advantage of the double coupon ad. I got quite a deal on lots of detergent, toilet paper and blades for my shaver. I also hit TJ Maxx - I LOVE that store... I get these great purses there and today I got some really cute shorts- a necessity in the summer here.
I went to Starbucks and my daughter was there working. She never works on Sunday so I was surprised. Lots of gay kids work with her and one was just going on about how he wanted to marry her and that I would be his mother-in-law. He had me laughing so hard that I was still chuckling as I drove for the next 2 miles or so... I just love those Starbucks kids. They are full of personality.
I need to get back to work here... I'm sure I'm probably one of the last to post today. Just bringing up the rear, as usual....
