They are gaining up on me.

I have a problem.  Well, it’s the same problem just a different day and different symptom.  I know you all know how we get so fixed in our mind to lose weight.  And, when I had my wls, I was one of those who measured and weighed everything.  I had a real testy pouch.  I couldn’t drink milk or eat a lot of cheese or things like that, and I couldn’t eat meat.  I tried every sort of way to get the meat to go down. I baked it, boiled, broiled, ground it, mushed it, chewed it hundreds of times and it still would hurt my pouch.  My doctor said that it wasn’t pain that I was feeling, that it was a full feeling and I said no, I know what full feels like and what pain feels like so I gradually gave up meat.  I lived and still do on cream of wheat, cottage cheese, broth, and peanut butter.  I can eat one egg but some days that even makes me sick.  Well, last year, they found that I had a huge ulcer and there was a lot of talk of doing a revision to get rid of my pouch, but as many of you remember, when I had my first surgery, I was on respirator and had trouble getting my breathing strong enough to get off of it.  So, surgery is the last thing they want to do; instead,  I’m now taking a lot of ulcer meds and watching what I eat, which I have always done that.  A few months ago, I wanted to have plastics and started trying to get my pcp and surgeon to do my work up for the full body lift.  Now, they won’t approve me because the plastics guy says that he feels I have about twenty or so pounds of skin that needs to be removed and my pcp says I cannot drop below 120 and taking  20 pounds of skin will put me too far below 120.  They are wanting me to gain twenty pounds.  At first they said if I didn’t lose for six or so months, they would do the surgery, so I have been trying to not lose.  The dietician records my weight down to the gram so if I lose a gram, she records it.  How the **** big is a gram?  So, now they are going back on their word and have me on this weight gain diet and I know that this is because of the attitude of the dietician.  I go back to the dietician next week and the scale is supposed to be moving up.  Here’s the complaint: the dietician is a *****  She insists that I change into a gown before she will weigh me.  She also acts like I am at fault; that I am anorexic, which I am not.  Let me say that again, I eat and love to eat.  I just hurt when I eat a lot because of the ulcer.  So, when she sees me, she has this attitude.  Yesterday, on our way home from Kansas, hubby and I were talking about my weight and I reminded him how unhealthy I was before wls and how there are tons of women who walk around perfectly healthy who weigh between 100 and 120 pounds.  Right?  I mean, we all know people like that and we are not accusing them of being unhealthy.  I told my husband if they will not clear me for surgery by the end of next month, then I am giving the surgery idea up.  I will just live with lose skin.  I am not going to gain twenty pounds just to have skin removal surgery.  He said he was fine if I didn’t have the skin removed but he did want me to gain a pound or two.  Just a pound or two, he said.  He also said that he wants me to go see an eating disorder doctor.  I knew that dietician had called him.  He would not have even known about an eating disorder doctor, so I’m thinking that she not only has convinced my doctors that I am intentionally losing weight, but she also has convinced my husband of the same.  Why do we have wls if not to get to a healthy weight?

Such harsh language!  Are you sure you are doing what she says.  I'm playing the devil's advocate here but are you following her food plans?  I don't know many people besides myself who have had wls and when my weight loss levelled off, I figured that was it and no more weight loss but the nutritionists said I can still lose if I lower my fat content and carbs.  So, I am following her food plan and the pounds are falling off.  I'd think that the same would be true of weight gain.  Just do it in reverse.

One of the things that I noticed about you in the office that day is how hyper you are.  I mean, you were reading a book, answering your phone, texting, doing all these things and when you had to wait, you kept getting up and moving around.  It wasn't until we started talking that you seemed to focus a little.  Plus, you might need to give up the bike for a while until you can store some fat back up.  Even if you don't have the plastics, I agree with your husband that you could put on a pound or two.  So here's my advice.  Give up the bike, give up the vegetables and fruit and get some meat in you, and spend some time resting.  Let your body save some of that food you are eating.

Now, back to us.  When are we meeting for coffee?

We are not going to meet for coffee.  Even if I wasn't married, you are so not my type. I don't like needy men.  As far as my bike riding and walking, I do that to build up my muscles so that I will gain more weight.  Muscle weighs more than fat.  Right?  And, I am hyper but that has nothing to do with my weight loss.  I have an ulcer and am not able to eat rich foods or fatty foods.  I've never been able to eat sweets, so I eat what doesn't hurt.

As far as my language goes.  Yeah, I use all the words that are available to me and it does offend many and I don't give ****   I am going to use them to express myself and if you don't like, it don't read my posts.  As I recall, you had a pretty stout vocabulary.  So why are you judging me now.  Oh, I bet the holy rollers have you on alert.  Shame on you.

Hold on cowgirl.  I'm your friend.  Remember.  I was joking with you on the language.
You think I'm needy.  Wow. where does that come from?  Even if you were married you wouldn't be interested in me. Ouch.  That hurts.  I bet you talk to all the guys like that.
I'm not judging you.  I am only making suggestions.  If you need to gain weight to have plastic sugery you should look at this with truth.  They are not out to get you. They are wanting you healthy so you can have the surgery.  I am sending you a message in the message email thing.  Read it and think about it.

I read your message.  Ha!

Okay, maybe I am a little over reactive and maybe I do become a little obsessive.  My point, though, in my post was that my dietician is going behind my back and making me look mentally deranged or something like that.  That's what I was *****ing about.  That's all and I think I will take it to the rant and rave forum.  They appreciate a good **** off and kiss my ass attitude.

I get your point.  You are your own worst enemy. Thats what I'm saying.  You want to have surgery, you need to gain weight, you are riding your bike ten to fifteen miles every day.  Even if you are building muscle you are still burning calories.
I am stopping before I **** you off again.
If you can not meet me for coffee how about I come up to Fayetteville and we can go to a movie or out for pizza.  I'll pay.

Hey Girl!

My two cents for what it is worth.

They won't operate on you for your ulcer because of a breathing problem when you came out of surgery the last time.  Now you need a lower body lift to remove the excess skin from your weight loss.

First, here in Arkansas the summers are so hot and humid that you are going to have a problem with skin rash under your excess skin.  Lots of discomfort and risk of infections.

Second, they say you need to gain weight.  You are building your muscle mass which is good.  I need to do that!  You have a problem eating because of your ulcer.  Add some protein powder to your cream of wheat, cottage cheese, etc.  That will help with building your muscle mass.  Or add some of the protein bullets to your water.

What I would be asking my pcp....Why not do the ulcer repair when they do the lower body lift?  That way you will be able to eat and gain some weight back after your surgery and not have to go under but one time.  It would make for a much healthier lifestyle for you.  I don't know if they would do that, but I certainly would ask.  I realize it would take 2 surgeons, but 2 surgeons have worked in tandum on other patients.

I don't know all of your health issues or what would be best for you.  I was just putting my thoughts out there for your consideration.  I understand not wanting to gain any weight back after you have worked so hard to take it off.  Just try to meet in the middle and have the best of both worlds.  Good luck to you on this and I hope if comes out the way you want.

Blessings.....

Dee
