What's new Thursday?
Hi my OFF family:
Well, it's payday once again, the new, unimproved, reduced paycheck. Hey, it wasn't as bad as I feared. Now, that's not saying it was great ... no pay reduction is ... but it is less than I was expecting. That may be because a) we are now getting paid on a 40-hour week instead of a 37 1/2 hour week or b) I'm getting taxed less. Not sure which. Maybe both.
As you probably can tell, I'm up checking on my payroll deposit and it's already in ... it was in at 10:41 p.m. ... really early. I'm glad it's in, so I can pay something on my overdue Comcast bill, so maybe they'll turn my cable back on. I at least have basic cable (because that's paid through my condo fees) but I don't have the digital service. I miss my MLB package ... although why I'd want to watch the White Sox play, I don't know ... they lost again today to the Tigers, and now they've got another injury. Guys are dropping like flies. But I do want to get my baseball package. It's all that's worth watching in the summer, and I don't go anywhere at all, hardly ever go to a movie. I live to watch my baseball games.
One more day, and then four days off ... I am looking forward to going to Chicago, seeing Mom, Brenda, Carla, Floyd and Brenda, Paulette, anyone else I can think of down the road ... it'll be good to get away.
Well, post away. I'll try to check on later. I don't think I'm going shopping today because I want to save my money for Chicago and I really don't need anything. Have a good day.

What the heck am I doing awake at 2 a.m. when I could still be in this comfortable hotel bed?
Glad to hear your pay reduction wasn't too bad. The effect of this economy on everyone is depressing. Everyday more and more people are losing jobs. I'm glad we work for the government. Brenda actually received a long awaited promotion and will be changing jobs in a couple weeks.
Last weekend we had an OH gathering at Holiday World (an amusement park in southern Indiana). There were about 30 of us. Of the 7 that had surgery, we lost over 1300 pounds. This was our 2nd annual trip there. We had a blast. Unfortunately Brenda broke her toe on the very firs****er slide, so that wasn't good. Overall a great weekend tho.
Our huge kitchen remodeling is about done. They still have some trim work to finish, but it turned out wonderful. So much storage room now since we put in a 13 foot island. Someone said it's not an island, it's a continent. Just awesome.
After our trip to Chicago this weekend, I have two weeks to work and then it's off for a 2 week vacation to Michigan. Have a family reunion the first week, and then the gathering at Nan's the second week. We're looking forward to seeing some of our OFF family again.
Well, I think I'll try to catch some more sleep before I have to get going to my meeting. Another long day since I don't get home until after 7 tonight. I'll have to unpack just to pack again for tomorrow's trip to Chicago.
Look forward to seeing Carla and Eileen this weekend.

Hello all,
I woke up at 3Am and my husband was downstairs so I went to check on him. He said he had had an anxiety but was better. He and I went back to bed, he is asleep and now I am awake. Go figure!!!
My car died about a week ago. At this point, it doesn't look like I will be able to afford to get another one. Finances in a mess.
Oh, well, church and funeral home are within walking distance and if I need to visit Wesley will have to either take me or let me use the truck or one of the members will have to take me.
It will work out somehow.
The economic situation is getting to us all.

Carlos Quentin is now out til after the All-Star break. Seems he tore a tendon (you could tell something was bad after he crushed the ball in Anaheim a few weeks back). Colon is out, but he was getting bashed anyway; maybe Contreras is actually really back. Dye is now hurting too. Konerko hurt his thumb, just as he was crushing the ball.
good morning! i have to type fast!! am up early -my boss- somedays he can be wonderful--he is letting me make up the time i slept away on tuesday- so--i am going in at 6 am til 4 pm today and tomorrow-staye dover til 4 yetsreday--that make sup the 7 hours--sooo-my check next friday will still be a week's worth! (missed a week's pay while in panama)...
we will be having a yard sale til we can get to the garage -so we are gonna just put stuff on tables in teh yard and on teh driveway- it will be haphazard-not as well organized as many sales we have attended -but if ppl wnat stuff they'll come back right???? so we start that task this weekend- need to go to teh bank tonite for 1's and 5's....
michael is giving away his 5 huge hibiscus plants --and that is a big step !!!!!! hopefully they will be picked up by week's end.....
i want soooooooooooooooo badly to go to nan's over the 4th but i am afraid that we won't be able to because of chico--it's too much to take them to the sitter's-he was too stressed and still is being hand fed! so unless we took him -and the dogs - with us - we won't be going....the gathering meant a lot to me since there would be so many of my wonderful OFF sisters-and brother floyd!-together in one place...with our planne dmove it would be great to be able to see and hug all again!!!!!!!!! and it looks like carla won't be coming thru here on her way back to florida as originally planned....bummer........................
well- have to go get dressed-can't even think of getting gorgeous this early in the a.m. !!!!
moved some money around from one bank acct to the other already today--will send out teh car payment today and get back on track!!!
i know so many of us are effected by the economy and it's downturns ; however...persistence in juggling and seeing it thru will help..i just keep thinking taht it WILL get better- it HAS to....and i am seeing that in the fact that already eileen saw something (somewhat) good in her pay!!!! just keep plugging along folks....we're all in this together...
hugs and prayers for all...............hoping to hear positives on connie and linda when i get home!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Morning to all my OFF sisters and brothers. Just think today is Thursday already. It has gone by fast just because Bill is on vacation this week.
I think I need a row boat around here today. It has been pouring rain all night along with thunder and lightening going on. I do think a boat or at least floaters are in order this morning. Noah had something with the ark that is for sure....it could be used this morning but I would leave the darn old 'skeeters off the thing! Life would be much better without them. Don't you all agree?
Today is our 21st anniversary. I can hardly believe that it has been that long. Time goes by so fast that it seems like just a couple of years ago that we got married. But with all the hard things that we had to get through I am glad those days are long gone. I can't say that things are easy street now but at least some of those heartbreaking days are over with. No special plans for today...just a quiet day here at home with just the three of us...we can't forget our Misty....and then dinner out tonight. I looked at him sound to sleep in bed a while ago and thought that he is without a doubt one of the most frustrating man I have ever met...must be because he and I can butt heads at times....mostly because of me...but don't let him know that I admitted that to anyone...it needs to be our secret. Like he doesn't already know that after all these years.
Carolyn is coming this morning to change the packing and bandages. The nurse isn't coming today but she is coming tomorrow and Carolyn isn't. I will certainly be glad when all of this is in the past...but I must bear patiently for now. In time this will all be a distant memory. I guess the pain that I am having is some of the feeling from the nerves healing coming back to life. That is what Erica said but told me to make sure to let the doctor know what is going on when I go see him next week. It helped me to know that things are healing...that is a positive and sometimes we all need that reinforcement in our lives.
I understand what you are all saying about the economy. I know that several weeks ago we started getting more in the pay check because of the lower taxes being taken out but for some reason that seems to be a thing of the past. It seems that when the company takes the taxes out they seem to be taking more each week. I didn't think that was suppose to happen but I might be wrong...or it might be the crazy company that he is now working for. I dread the day that they ever bought out One Source. I never thought that I would live to hear myself say that one....believe me. It seems like everything is going up except the paychecks. They seem to not be able to keep up with the prices going up. Everyone wants money and then more money and there isn't any more to go around!
I didn't hear anything from Linda on her doctor appointment yesterday. If I don't hear from her later on I am going to call her. It is difficult at times because of the time changes. I get so darn confused on those things for some reason. It doesn't take a rocket scientist but then again sometimes it might....ha ha
I guess I had better get to moving. I am not sure why other than I am running out of things to say. I never thought that would happen either. Wow, today seems to be a day of firsts around here. ha ha I am sending love and hugs to all along with prayers. Share your happiness with those around you and make several people happier today...yourself included.

I received a letter from work letting us know that in July our raises will go into effect - retroactively. My raise wasn't huge, I am a part-timer, but it will be appreciated.
A Cornell student is doing a reseaech paper about bariatric patients and I am participating in the study. Her questions made me dig into the brain for answers. The hardest part was explaining how I made the decision to have WLS and specifically the RNY procedure.
An interesting bit of trivia - a place in Sweden has been tracking a group of bariatric people for 25 years. If she can locate the study she will give me some information. I am curious to see what the long term results may show.
