Hi Carla and my OFF family:

Wish I could've gone to the OH event, but not paying that much for parking. Can't waste $44 on parking. Hope to see you in Chicago, though.

Did ya ever have one of those days? It's been like that for me ...

First, actually yesterday, the White Sox game was delayed for three hours by rain ... so I didn't get to watch it even though I don't have to be to wor****il 6 p.m. By the time I got to work they were up 2-0. Since Comcast still won't reconnect me even though I paid $250 (they said I still have to pay another $98 ... can't pay that until next week, so I will get by with basic cable until next week Thursday ... oh well, at least the rep helped me figure out how to get my DVD player to work with the basic cable so I can watch DVDs). So I get to work, knowing I have to stay late to work a theater review. No problem, I brought plenty of water, a magazine to read and my ice packs for my knee.

But the photographer assigned to take the photos for the business stories is shooting all three assignments, including the late one, and she doesn't plan to come bac****il she's done with the last one. Which means I have to lay out the page without photos. It can be done, but it's a lot of guesswork, and if the photographer comes back with a vertical photo instead of a horizontal that you're planning for, you have to redo the whole page ... lots of extra work. But I do my best, and she gets the photos in about 10:30 ... about the same time the last story gets in. And then the fun begins.

Laying out a page is like putting together a puzzle. Most nights, it's a lot of fun ... the pieces fit together pretty well, just a few problems here and there that you can fix with cropping a photo up a little or taking out a couple of paragraphs. Tonight, naw ... nothing worked. Stories, too long; too many elements (photos, fact boxes, etc.) ... and then there's the stocks roundup that's about four columns by 6 inches deep and can't be changed from that measure. No matter what I tried, I couldn't make anything fit. Finally, I ditched one fact box. I did put it online, however.

Then I had to do the theater review ... same problem there ... nothing fit. It had to be the ugliest page I've done in a long time.

Got home, loved up the kitties, gave them their treats, wanted to see baseball highlights but all ESPN showed were a few ballgames and 35 minutes of the NBA finals. (Oh and the White Sox won 4-3 in the ninth inning.) Went into the kitchen to get something and skidded on some kitty vomit on the rug. So now I'm waiting for the rug shampoo to soak in so I can clean that up before I go to bed. Ah, so much fun tonight!

Well, at least I'm off for four days. Looking forward to going to Chicago, seeing my mom and my buddies. Not looking forward to driving, because my knee really hurts, my leg is swollen, but at least I'll get to watch the Sox games, which I would have missed at home.

Anyway, have a good day.

Rainy and chilly here. The rain is good for our thirsty well.

My group is having a clothing exchange at the end of the month.Since I have been bugging folks to clean out their unwanted clothes, I had better do the same. Most of the really large sizes are gone but I have several stacks of too big for me items. Time to share.

My new glasses came in. The doctor said the prescription was much different. I didn't realize how bad it was until I put on the new glasses. Yikes, I can SEE so much better. Did your eyes change as you lost weight or is this from getting older? Both?

Kisses

annette- two thoughts on eye glasses-  yes; my sight got a teensy better  but i also have beginning macular degeneration so i can't really judge--the other thing tho--is if your glasses are from pre wls days-guess what honey- your cheeks probly aren't as chubby as they were ( well i have met you and i KNOW they aren't!!) so your glasses don't fit right and your vision isn't corrected properly---

i need new glasses again- after i get things straightened out and caught back up from our trip i will get them....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margo,
You are right on both counts. They were pre surgery glasses and my cheeks are not nearly as chubby.

Thank you for the word search. I smiled.Parrot

Good morning all.  Should be working right now, but wanted to stop by here.

Going to the Ballpark all weekend.  Rangers will be playing the Dodgers.  Should be interesting.  Dodgers have the best record in baseball right now, the Rangers have the second best record in the American League.

Eileen, if you get a chance, you should catch Baseball Tonight with their highlights.  I had to set it to DVR from last night's results.  The Rangers shortstop (Elvis Andrus) made a play that they said had to be on the web gems, and quite possibly number one.  He fell into the stands catching a ball.  He had to run all the way from shortstop to do it.

Mary has already organized our food for the ballgame Friday night.   The Rangers allow you to bring food in.  We are bringing the makings for subs.  Easy to eat.  Easy to carry in.  And I will be bringing about 5 quarts of Crystal Light with me.  I can't bring in a 2 quart jug, but I can bring in 5 one quart containters.  Go figure.

Well, don't know how much I will be around, in case you have not noticed, I don't always drop by on Friday and Saturday nights.  But if I do, I will at least say hi.

Have a great weekend.  Do something for yourself.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Yeah, I saw the play, it was great. Did you see the Indians play where the seagulls helped them win the game? Really funny.

Have fun at the game. That's great that they let you bring in food. Most clubs won't allow that. When we were kids and going to the Sox games, we always brought all our food. I remember my friend Linda's mother used to make fried chicken and we had that for the games.

it IS friday and i am glad!!! this 10 hour shift yesterday was almost a killer- today's will be again--but- i am grateful to be able to make the time up to get paid! i finished up the cases i was working on so i can switch to the traffic ticket project that was brought in...our boss gets outside work for us which helps to pay our wages.problem is we drop everything else we are doing .... it's nice for a change up but it takes away from the "in house" projects that we were hired to do,,,,i know ,,,quit my *****in!!!

yesterday, the folks who bought the treadmill from michael wanted their money back--um..no...long story short it was not a pretty scene....

our friends were excited to come pick up his hibiscus plants--we have carried two of them around since we lived in michigan-he had them before that even!!! and two were thrown out by our dentist-michael revived them! and the 5th was his BIL's mother's before she died! well ; he took one to a neighbor and the other 4 went home with our frineds...so now our deck is almost bare!!! will miss them but it's better for showing the house, etc....a big commitment on his part...these babies were huge and the pots were heavy!!!!!

tonite we are gearing up for a yard sale this weekend..i really hate putting them on and that is when you do it the right way- pre pricing and gathering for weeks , tables lined neatly, etc...well-this is going to be a seat of the pants deal--put stuff out as i find it!! and keep doing it til we get rid of things! it would be a whole diff story if i could get INTO the garage to set things up ahead of time!!!! it will work out ...it HAS to !!!! wish me luck!!!!

sure wishin i were goin to chicago to see the gang....nope-not happening! don't have a clue what the workshops are ....

well- it's 5 so i need to get dressed and get out the door.....
hugs and prayers ..........................................

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margo,
sometimes the seat of the pants approach is less stress and still works out great. Good luck and happy sales to you.
