Discouraged...Wondered when this would happen!

I am 54.  I had RNY in October/08. In total, inc.some weight loss prior to the surgery, I have lost just under 100 pounds.  I am no longer insulin dependent , having been on 4 insulin shots daily ,prior to the RNY, for nearly 10 years. My severe sleep apnea is gone....At my last weigh in with my nutritionist in mid April, I was down to 207 lbs. As of today, June 17th, I am at 204...Only 3 pounds gone in two months?????  I do celebrate the accomplishments so far, but can someone please tell me...am I in an honest to goodness plateau and will this pass? I eat well and maintain no less than 70 g's of protein a day. I take my supplements religiously, I excercise
faithfully, for 20 mins each day....(an aside....I am nearly ready to return to my trainer and begin cardio  training in earnest)..I am very conscious of what I eat and how much. I average about 750-1000 cal's a day...So, please, those of you who know, can you enlighten me????
Thanks!

congratulations on your successes...
now- change it up a bit--maybe your body is getting accustomed to it's new shape and size, maybe it's too used to your exercise regime...

how tall are you?

don't be overly discouraged...keep plugging away but -change it up!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Thanks!   I am 5 ft 5in in height.     I do agree that my routine may need to be changed.....not sure what to do yet but will actively pursue this till something works!  The one plus is that if I add swimming to my routine I will need a new swimsuit as my older two are WAY TOO BIG!!!

and shopping is a bad thing why???????????

the otehrs are probly right that you need to adjust your eating--the body will go into starvation mode-and you probly won't feel hungry--it tends to protect what fat it has stored up when it realizes that you are not supplying more!!
try the cheese thing or pepperoni chips or simply an additional protein shake or two during the day....
let us know what happens.....it is your body!!! i may get flamed for this but the nuts don't know everything!

Don't get discouraged. You may (and this might be a shock) have to add calories/protein to shock your system. Your body may be in starvation mode and won't let go of the weight. Or change your exercise routine. Every one of us has had this happen at one time (often more than once) and eventually, the plateau/stall stops and we start losing again. Mine happened at about the same place yours is ... just above 200 pounds. It was a bit of a struggle to get it under 200, but I made it there. You will, too. Just be patient. Your body is catching up.

It is interesting how a body could be in starvation mode when one doesn't experience hunger...I really do not feel hunger anymore...not like I used to. I shall try adding even more protein first. May I ask how much you have in a day and what you eat to get it??Or do you use the protein drinks/smoothies etc..Thanks for your encouragement..I do appreciate it.

I went to a support group meeting once where a woman said that she was no longer losing and was worried that she would start gaining and wanted to know what she could do to kick start losing again. The nurse that ran the support group said for the woman to add a little more protein in her diet and it would help. The very next meeting she said that she had started losing after adding more protein. Maybe you should try it??? Good luck! Michelle
