OT: My update

There are a few people on this forum that know of my employment status. Or the Unemployment status. I just wanted to update those of you that are interested that I had a job offer today and I accepted it. This bout of unemployment has lasted just a little over a month. Last one was over a year. I feel fortunate to be offered any type of job especially as my age.

Darlene, so happy for you.  Not just your age, but at the state of the economy.  I see so many people that are being extremely fussy about what kind of job they accept and then complain because their unemployment benefits run out.  I am so proud of my son.  Prior to his termination, he was a night time manager at a freight terminal.  After 10 days of unemployment, he took a job at UHaul, washing trucks for $7 an hour.   And continued looking for a better job.  10 days later, a job almost as good as the one he left fell into his lap.  He has been there about 5 or 6 weeks, and soon will be making more than he was at the job he was terminated from.  The fact is though, he knew he needed money coming in quickly and was not going to wait for unemployment.  $7 an hour for a 40 hour week is just about what unemployment pays.  He said he would rather work for his money.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Congrats for sure!

Congratulations on the new job, Darlene. I would say a month of unemployment just qualifies for a nice vacation. I know that it was a tense one but now that is the past...and you can move on again.

You will do great of that I have no doubt. When do you start?

Keep us posted on how you enjoy your new place of employment. I am excited for you.
