Uploaded Pictures of Chicago OH Convention

Hi all.  Check out my profile to see pics of the IN gang in Chicago.  Floyd & Brenda were there with us.  We all had a great time. 

It was nice to meet Carla.  She was in the fashion show with me. It was great to meet Dr. Garth and Mary Jo from TLC Big Medicine. 

The fashion show group is going to be in an upcoming OH magazine issue.  Mary Jo is so down to earth.  She was out on the dance floor with us shaking it up!   

I want to thank you guys for your "vote" of confidence and support when I ask about wearing my leather pants and feeling uncomfortable about people saying they are not "age appropriate."  You guys gave me the confidence to take them to Chicago and shake my bootie on the Katwalk. I didn't know I was going to be in the fashion show until I arrived there so no prep for the show!  WHAT do I wear???  I just wore what I brought for the Monte Carlo night...my leather pants.  YOU gals were there with me in spirit!!!!!!  Thank you so much.

Meeting other WLS people from all the different states was wonderful.  Everyone looked fabulous and I loved hearing about their journeys with life after bariatric surgery.  I came home with cookbooks, literature, lots of free samples, & stuff I bought from the vendors.  It was educational and fun too.

Hey Carla, Good to hear from you.  You were gorgeous in that beautiful white dress in the fashion show. Do you have pictures?   It was a great bunch of people all in different phases of their journey which was great.  They even had a husband-wife duo that both had WLS.  It was cool.

I just joined Facebook and don't have anything set up there yet.  Trying to learn the ropes.  Is it safe???  I'm just trying to be careful what I "put out there." know what I mean?

Thanks Karen.  It was stepping out of the box for me to do that but it was fun.  It seems kinda weird but I'm thinking that quite possibly I'm STILL not quite comfortable in my own skin. DAH!! But my go****'s been almost 9 years for pete sake.  I still find myself hiding my body.  For instance, I've had PS on my upper arms so they aren't saggy but I still feel kinda weird wearing sleeveless tops, tanks, etc.  My parents & siblings say I look aneroxic and that doesn't help.  They just are use to seeing me at 350# instead of 135-140# .  But I will persevere. 

I lived in that MO body for over 30 years so 9 yrs. in this thin body seems like a drop in the bucket compared to over 30.  I have learned so much about myself and working the maintenance phase but it really does take lots of time to re-think and adjust all the old patterns I use to have.  Am I making any sense?  I don't have my "insulation" anymore and I feel exposed to the world now.  Maybe I'm just a slow learner.  LOL  

Thanks for the PM's about the bing cherries.  I love them so much and am going to freeze them like you do.  Yummy!
