It's Saturday. What's New?
Happy Saturday!? Not so happy for me. I got home early for once on a Friday (no more sports for me ... yey!) and in the middle of a lot of thunderstorms, but had no TV or cable in the living ... had TV in the bedroom (but can't really move it in the living room ... it's just a little TV). I have a sinking feeling the lightning must have fried the TV and DVR box. I can't get the TV to work in any outlet I plug it in. And this is my main entertainment ... which means I will be living/sleeping/eating in the bedroom, because I can't afford a TV. The one possibility is going through rent-to-own ripoff joints, but I can't even do that until next Thursday, because I'm broke (and I'm sure they'll want an upfront payment before they deliver a TV). Comcast can't come until Tuesday (sometime between noon and 3 p.m.) And if they come, and the TV is fried, well, then they really can't help me much, now, can they? Oh, they did promise to refund me for the time I was without my cable. Isn't that nice? (What really frosts me is half the time when I call, they ask me for a security question the last four digits of my SSN, and I give it to them, and they say, I'm sorry, that's not right; other times, they say, OK, that's correct. Tonight was one of those times they said it wasn't right ... I said, I've had this same number since I was 16; I think I know what it is.)
Anyway, here comes the weekend (well, starting Sunday) and I'm stuck in the bedroom, not very comfortable with my back and my knees.
I know, other people have it worse. Oh woe is me, but I have a job, a home ... I was just saying to a coworker that things are going to be OK as long as nothing breaks down. I should have kept my mouth shut.
Well, what's new with you?
If it's fried, get on freecycle. There's always someone that is trying to get rid of a tv because they got a new one.
I gave my 32" to my sister and she hadn't had it two weeks when she had carpet put in and the carpet guys didn't take it out of the entertainment center when they moved it and 'dumped' it in the living room. I didn't have another tv to give her. The carpet people gave her the carpet didn't replace the tv... so my other other sister came to the rescue with her old tv. You met her.. you know, the one that drove the van when you were here?
Anyway, where I was going with this... she looked on freecycle and found several... was going to get one until our other sister jumped in.
Crap, it takes me a hour to tell a 2 minute story. Sorry about your tv...
Darn the luck. Someone may be lurking at work that has an extra one.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

We have been boatless for the last nine weeks

Let's see, last weekend our daughter, SIL, and Gabe came for a visit. They picked up Ethan on their way. So we had both grandsons. Went to a Z's game - they won! They boys play so well together, I hated to see them leave Sunday afternoon. We went to Ethan's baseball game Wed. Speaking of baseball, LSU won again today!
Our younger son, Danny has invited the whole family over for a BBQ for Father's Day. Our other son has to work, and our daughter and her family already had plans, but I think all my sisters and their families are planning to attend. Danny has a pool - I can't wait! He asked me to bring deviled eggs and dessert. I'm also bringing a nice salad with home grown tomatoes.
That's about it from the deep south!

Sorry about the boat...that's something I miss.. having a boat. Loved it when we lived at Lake Texoma and I could just go down to the dock and go fishing anytime I wanted to. I love to fish!! I can fillet them little boogers cleaner than a whistle... shoot, you could throw them back and they'd regrow meat...:)
Ain't those grandkids fun?
Your deviled eggs brought me out of lurking.... my sister asked for my brussel sprout salad for her b/d dinner tomorrow. I've got it made and marinating.... got the baked beans my DIL asked for ready to put in the oven. DIL loves my baked beans.. and the funny thing is.. she loves the maple flavor... I used SF maple syrup in my beans... no clue... I love to make stuff that's WLS friendly and no one knows it!! Shoot, now you got me thinking deviled eggs.... I really need to go to bed... and btw, what are you doing up????

George won't let me help clean fish. He says he likes all my fingers right where they are! He knows how dangerous I am with sharp objects. Heck, I stabbed myself in the finger putting a sharp knife away a couple of days ago. My job is to package the fish in zip-lock bags after he cleans them.
Ooh yum, baked beans. I like the way I make them, but one of my sisters is doing them this time - blah!
