It's Saturday. What's New?
Aloha OFF family!
Eileen...I sure can identify with your TV problem. I have a big Sony in my living room which has been fixed twice at around $175 per fix....and since it is sitting right next to my sliding glass doors which are very close to the ocean, it gets corroded by the salt air....as does anything and everything mechanical it seems. I have replaced three keyboards before I finally began putting on a "skin" which seems to help it last a little longer. Sometimes I think I should sell or give away my big Sony before it conks out again and get a smaller, newer version, but then how do you get rid of a gigantic TV? I'm thinking maybe of advertising on Craigs list......free TV, but you have to pick it up. I hope you look into homeowner's insurance. That sure seems like it might be helpful to you.
My news is that I finally found out what is happening with my body lately...why I've been sick off and on and feeling poorly so often. My bariatric doc says I have "walking pneumonia." My body has been trying to kick it for several weeks, and has done it sometimes when I feel pretty good, but then it creeps back in. I'm now on antibiotics and he said I should be feeling much better in a week or so. No testing of babies at the hospital, though, or working at the clinic for the next week. I hate being sick....and hopefully I can kick this and get back to feeling good again.
Hearing about all the horrible weather on the mainland makes me feel guilty for taking for granted the normal beautiful weather here. This morning it is sunny, warm (80's) but we do have some VOG from the Big Island making it hazy. I don't plan on going anywhere.....just hanging out and letting my body repair itself.
Here's hoping you all have a great Saturday, and that your Father's Day celebrations are full of laughter.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen

That's one of my problems with freecycle or a resale shop: I'd have to pick it up, and I have the bad back/bad knees and a small car with the back doors that don't open.
I signed up for craigslist and looked on there ... a few things but can't do anything til Thursday because I'm so broke there's lint in my wallet.
Karen, I hope you get some help for what's ailing you. Take care of yourself.

Aloha sweet friend.....I do feel horrid.......and I hate it. But my physical problems are so minor compared to some of our OFF family that I feel guilty complaining about them. What you and others have been through makes me shudder sometimes.....and yet there you are.......through it and shining like a star!
I usually come here to share life's happiness....but I so often get so much more.......a sharing of similar challenges life throws our way. I am made stronger with each of your solutions to your challenges.........and it gives me hope.

My dear big sister Karen......I get so much strength and hope from you. You have such a tender and caring way of speaking that I can feel the peace that is in you soul. I just felt the urge to tell you that you are so very special to me...and without hope what do we have? If it wasn't for hope I don't think I could go on. And the great thing is...I get so much hope from every one of my sisters and brothers here. I am so grateful that I was led here.
I am sending so much love and so many hugs to you clear across all the miles that seperate in body but never in spirit.

Karen,
I am so glad to hear they have figured out why you are feeling so poopy. I was worried about you. Maybe now, after you are feeling better you will feel more like getting out and like your old self. Love reading your posts.
Take Care,
Cheryl

Hi Eileen,
Sorry to hear about your TV. I depend on mine to entertain me as well.
It is in the mid to high 90's with a heat index in the 100's and next week they say it is getting hotter. It has been this way now for over two weeks, and no rain almost a month.
Went to a movie yesterday as was off for a State holiday, Juneteenth. I went to see The Proposal and thought is was only minimally entertaining which was disappointing.
Margo, hope your yard sale goes well as well as the sale of your house.
Karen, so sorry to hear you have pneumonia. Having had it more than once, I know how debilitating it is. The key thing other than antibiotics is rest and lots of liquid.
Janet, hope your dishes are a hit at the get together tomorrow. The brussel sprouts salad sound interesting.

Hi Eileen and all,
I am sitting on my back porch enjoying the nice weather. Thunder and lightening last night with lots of rain, more tomorrow because of course I'm having family over for Father's Day BBQ.
Last night before I went to sleep, I was reading this post about your TV Eileen and Tom had just walked in from walking home from night class in the lightening and thunder (can you say lightening bolt conductor with him being 6'4" and carrying an umbrella, that man! I told him it was going to storm!) and he got into bed and we laid there a minute and he was going to put on the cpap machine as the lightening flashed and the thunder rolled, and I said, "um, I think you have outwitted mother nature enough tonight why don't you leave that off tonight since it is electric and hooked to your face." He agreed. So, we laid there a bit longer and he said "I should go upstairs and unplug the nice TV" It's our flat screen and was a gift and our only good television. I said "yeah, that's probably a good idea" So up to the third floor he went and I know TMI, but I gotta tell you he was nude-ie so you get the whole idea of this man running around turning off and unplugging stuff, anyway he comes back down, gets into bed and I say "oh, oh what about the TV in here?" and he says "oh, I better get that one too." He is so good to me, doesn't ask me once to get up, and he gets up again and unplugs it. Then gets back into bed and says, "oh wonder if I should go down and unplug the one in the kitchen" I say "couldn't hurt." So Mr. Nude Tall Man gets up again, goes downstairs and unplugs that one. Comes back to bed, we lay there a sec and I say, did you unplug your laptops? He has 2. He said "No, I better go do that." So as he is walking out of the bedroom I say, "Maybe you should unplug the desktop while you're at it." "Good thinking, he says." We do have surge protectors on the desktop but decided to unplug anyway....He came back to bed and then we went to sleep. That is the most excitement we have had at night in a long time.
I really wanted to say hi to you all today and tell you that you all help me get though my days even though I don't post so much.
