Do you do it too?
I went to the grocery store on my way home from my office. The grands are coming so I wanted to get them a variety of fruits and snacks. So, there is this huge watermelon, and I should have known better because Arkansas’ watermelons are not quite yet ripe, but I wanted it, so I bought it. Usually, when I get home from the big grocery shopping day, I prep my vegetables. I clean them and wash them and put them in baggies. The lettuce, I make into a huge salad and I get about four to five days out of it by doing it that way. Plus, with everything clean and cut, I have access to a quick snack. But, I clean the mess from getting the vegetables cleaned and put away and decided to cut the watermelon up and put it in a huge baggy so that the kids will have cool watermelon. Wouldn’t you know it, the damn thing was bad. I swear, a few days ago, I got one at the same store and it was green and wasn’t supposed to be green. I had it. Five bucks for a little watermelon that was rotten. So, I was going to take it back to the store and get my money back, and dh said, here, I’ll do it and he did. True, we don’t have watermelon, but by god, we have our five bucks back. LOL. I think that some of the managers think we won't bother bringing the bad stuff back. So, I'm sitting here thinking, have any of you ever taken produce back that was either too green or bad?

Yes, I have and do, unless I am too lazy. I have even just gone back later and told them I got a lb of whatever or a one of those and it was rotten and they tell me to just go get another one of them. It's my neighborhood Safeway (where I usually just get produce and meat) so they know me.
But I say hell yes! Bring it back and tell em!

our grocery store in town offers to cut the watermelon in the store. even give you a bite if it is bad they will cut another one till they find one you want. I had them cut 3 of them one day lol...after they cut it they wrap it in heavy saran wrap so it wont leak.....pretty neat of them i think.

GOD BLESS YOU TODAY

I have done so,and also with meat. We have the right to expect quality, and it is the principle of the matter. What about the mom on the limited budget trying to buy something healthy for her kids?
I pointed out to my grandson how candy was cheaper than a few good oranges.
If we do not stand for something, then we will fall for anything.
Kudos for you!
