Good morning and Happy Fathers Day to all you Fathers out there.
Today the kids are coming with their wives and we're doing a late breakfast.  Then the youngest are leaving for a mini vacation to Niagara Falls.  We've got their dog for the week.  He's cute, only a year old, but deaf and totally into his tennis ball.  Can't get him to play with anything else, and he always drops the ball at your feet and then barks for you to toss it.  Nagging nagging bark bark bark.  I don't know if I can take it.  If I'm successful with their dog maybe they'll let me have the baby after it's born in December.  I'm sure you're right Jeannie about us only being fertile for so long. :)
Right now hubby is doing laundry and putting the stuffed cabbages into a casserole to go into the oven.  I told him to stop doing that because he doesn't need to cook his own father's day dinner, and I don't want to hear about it.  he kind of laughed and said 'Will you hear about it?'  You know he's going to be telling everyone that he had to make his own Father's day dinner.  Oh well, after 34 years we take turns.
Hope everyone has a beautiful day today.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:

I had a meltdown at work yesterday. I think the bad week got to me, and then everything at work compounded it. First, I had a lot of pages to do ... which I enjoy, because it makes the night go faster. But our night editor left to go to his son's baseball game and didn't get the early stuff done. So I was sitting there waiting for stories. Then everything came in at once. Then my computer crashed twice ... then it crashed again as I was making corrections on deadline and I had to call our IT support person at home and try to follow his instructions as I was having a meltdown. I was telling him what was on my screeen and he wasn't listening, and I wasn't in the mood to listen to him. So, of course, things took longer. Then, after the first edition was done and papers came out, something I thought I had fixed wasn't fixed because our pagination system is crappy (we are getting a new one ... I get trained right after the 4th of July week). So then I had to spend more time fixing that again. Needless to say it wasn't a good night. I wanted to go and have a good long cry. I want to call Margie and cry on the phone to her, like I used to on a Sunday afternoon, but she's not there anymore and I miss her so much. She's the one person who would listen and understand, because she grew up in the newspaper business. She would hear my complaints and laugh with me about the problems, and then I'd get on with my life again. When I got home last night, I had a good cry, and it helped a bit, but I find myself crying a lot lately.

I went through and got a TV through a rent-to-own place ... I know, ripoff joint, but I didn't see many options. I checked craigslist and freecycle and there wasn't much there. And the problem for me with those places is I'd have to go pick it up and transport it home ... in my small car with the back doors that don't open, and my bad back and knees. I don't have a husband or boyfriend or son or brother here to help me lift and carry things. When I got this last TV, the apartment maintenance guy carried it up the stairs and put it in the apartment; then I had to lift it out of the box and set it up. Wasn't really easy then; it's going to be worse now because back and knees are worse. Funny, but I thought losing weight would make things better.

Sorry for all the weeping and wailing here, but I'm really depressed lately, and I don't have any place to pour out my heart. If I don't get out here, it stays all bottled up.

I'm camping out in the bedroom because that's the only TV I have (13-incher), but it's not very comfortable. My legs are very swollen, although I did lose four pounds overnight from Friday to Saturday.

Well, enough of my woes. Have a good Father's Day, if you have dads around yet. Mine died in 1984, colon cancer and kidney disease.

I have a 47 inch Samsung HDTV ready rear projection tv you can have if you pay shipping. It is out in the sun room, too big for my living since I am re-arranging to accomdate my mother....I will be freecycling it soon...

I'm getting a 26-inch flat-screen TV ... really don't have room for much bigger. I have a small room and a small entertainment center. If I got anything much bigger, I'd have to buy a bigger stand. It's coming Tuesday.

Carla,

It was great seeing you in Chicago and can't wait to see you again at Nan's.  We're leaving next Saturday for Brenda's parents.

Watch out for the bears in the woods!

See you soon,

Floyd
