Phyllis, Hospice is so wonderful with the whole family. A bit off topic but not too much. I just heard a beautiful song by Allison Kraus/Robert Plant. The album has won a lot of awards recently. The song is called "The Long Journey". One of the lines is "my heart aches as you take your long journey". It's about life's end and a beautiful song.

Have you ever read the "Parable of Immortality?" It offers me much comfort in times of loss. It's short and just gives the perspective of a life well lived. Thinking of you in these difficult times. One of the things that helped me the most was when "new life" would begin in our famly following the loss of a loved one. A new niece or nephew, twin grand daughters after my mother's death, were reminders that we all can't stay here forever and that we need to move on to make room for the "new" ones.

No matter how prepared we try to be it is never easy. I've found that I'm tougher that I thought during those times. Hugs.

Thank you for the well wishes Karen, your post was so comforting to me. I did feel better after Hospice left today. I think it was kind of a vindication for me. Just knowing, what I have been struggling with these last few weeks has been resolved for me and most of all for my Dad. I just wanted him to have some peace and dignity, and he was not getting it before.

I am going to check out the song and book you gave me the name of, I think they would be beneficial to me.

Thanks for the hugs, they are coming in handy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phyllis,
I don't come on everyday, but today I saw the post from Judy on the Michigan board about your needing prayers and about your dad.
I'm really sorry to hear.  Hospice is a wonderful group and you'll find peace knowing that he is being taken care of with dignity.
Hugs to you. and constant prayers.
Jan
