I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

My son was 33 Tues.  My baby girl will be 32 in July.  I still think of them as teenagers.

I've just planted three gardens, and I've also got several planters full of annuals.  I've learned over the years that plants in planters require much more water than those that are planted right in the ground.  Planters dry out very quickly while the ground retains moisture for a much longer period of time.

I have hanging planters, and I will sit them right in a pail of water and let them soak up as much water as they need.  I do this probably once a week as well as watering them (in the ordinary way - from the top) several times per week.  After I take the planters out of the pails, they drain away the water that they don't need.  This works very well.
As long as my planters have good drainage - a hole in the bottom or a bottom of stones that will keep the plant away from any residual water - I am not concerned about overwatering them.
I'm not sure if I've explained myself very well, but I hope that this helps.

Good morning to you today, our Carla and to my other OFF family. I am going to give posting here another try...I started and then the computer froze...so got that going and then OH wouldn't let me in. The kept calling me guest and then I couldn't sign in..they kept telling me no account could be found..but now I am found and all is well. At least for now! ha ha

Congratulations on the upcoming marriage of your dear daughter. I hope that Lizzie and Jared will be happy and have many good wonderful years ahead of them. I can understand why you are so excited and it is going to be hard to stay away too. You have a lot of planning ahead of you, I am sure.

The city of Gary is going nuts with the passing of Michael Jackson. They are leaving stuffed animals and flowers on the door step of his old family home. His cousin lives there now..so at least they will understand. I wondered why they were doing that when the family hadn't lived there for so long.

It is tragic about Farrah too. She was such a talented woman and she fought such a fight..and never gave up during the fight with cancer. It was a shame that had to happen. My heart goes out to Ryan O'Neil and their son...

The little 2 year old girl that I had told you about that was missing from Gary has been found. She of course in gone now but her body was found in a field in Otis, IN which is near Michigan City. I guess they are going to arrest the babysitter and her boyfriend. I knew that they were the ones from the very beginning. It was tragic what happened to that poor little girl. She lived here in Portage and the babysitter (who was the cousin of her mother) is from Hobart. I don't understand why and how people do that to poor innocent children who never hurt anyone. I can't comprehend that one and I suppose I will always have a problem with that.

It is suppose to be a bit cooler today...Oh thank you!!! It is going to be about 85 but still humid..it wouldn't be northwest Indiana without the humidity! I have lived my whole life with it but do you ever get use to it...NO!!!

The visiting nurse is coming today between 8:30 and 10:30. She is going to have the results of the culture but she doesn't know that I got started on a antibiotic since she hasn't been here since I saw my pcp. If it was left to Dr. Stanish I still wouldn't be on one...just another thing I don't understand. I am going to get my blood work done this morning after the nurse leaves. I want to get that done so we can get the results of this...I am anxious to know if there is something in the blood work that might be causing this infection. At least my pcp thought enough to get the blood work..more than I can say about Dr. Stanish!

We are suppose to go to DS and DIL's tomorrow for a cook out. I am not really looking forward to it but one good thing is....I get some Kayden time and get my required loving! Oh the wonders of grands...it is so grand and that is why they are called grandchildren...they knew the wonders and joys of them. I just hope that Carol doesn't make me wait so long to get my hands on him. She can be very stingy on that...at least for me. I know that she isn't like that with Linda's (DS's mother) side of the family. Oh well..I will swallow a lot for that sweetheart. Even DIL and DS's other family!!!!!!!

I guess I had better get going. I hope that you all have a great day and stay safe and cool but that might be hard to do with the cool part! I am sending love and hugs to all along with prayers for everyone. Remember to sow your seeds of happiness and joy and it will come back to you sevenfold!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Carla ~ your life is a whirlwind of excitement. No wonder you can't sleep.

Short version of long story - PCP wants the surgeon check me out. Maybe I should say "inside". Rats! He has this nasty habit of cutting holes in my tummy.

The outing in the park was a nightmare. The weather went from sunny, to all hell breaking loose within minutes. We gathered our boats and clients to huddle in the concession stand as the wind whipped, rain poured, and lightening streaked through the sky. It was scary.

I decided to dash through the parking lot and park my car closer. No sense in everybody getting drenched. The water was beyond my ankles and I kept praying that no lightening would hit. You should have seen me run.

Not an inch of my body was dry and I was COLD!! The temp went from 93* to 70* in minutes. My client thought I looked funny all dripping and shivering and laughed. Another staff person said I won the wet t shirt contest. Gee thanks but nobody else entered the contest.

I will call my surgeon this morning. His kids ought to send me a thank you notes for contributing to their college education$$$.

Morning all....
This heat is terrible....it was supposed to be cooler yesterday, but it was near 90 by noon and last evening it was in the mid 90's with a heat index of 100 again.   My a/c is humming away and I keep it on 75 deg.

Had my pre-op appt with the surgeon's P.A. -- he was very nice and I had a lot of questions which he answered clearly.  He will be assisting my surgeon during the procedure which is to last 2 1/2 hrs. approx.
I am getting nervous and I don't know why....I know God will be with me and I just need to focus on that.

I saw a friend at the beauty shop yesterday and she was asking where I was having my surgery....when I told her, she laughed and said "be sure to have someone take charge of your dentures".....She had knee replacement surgery there about a month ago and they LOST HER DENTURES!   They paid for a new set, but she was w/o teeth for two weeks.....good grief!  That's scary, huh?

Off to work this morning and it's payday so that's good.  We're having a carryin for someone's birthday and I made my famous orange chiffon pie to take.  Hope it doesn't melt before it get's eaten....lol.
We do have a/c in the bank, just kidding.

We could use some rain here, it's all gone north and east of us.

Margo hope your sale goes well today and you get rid of tons of stuff.
Someone is interested in my king size bed, but he hasn't come to look at it yet.  I'd like to get it out of my garage, along with the oak entertainment center....if he doesn't come, I'm going to advertise them.

Better get some bike riding done (sweating) and then a bit of breakfast, then off to work.

Have a good Friday, stay cool, drink lots of water....see ya tomorrow.

Well Carla, I know you're not coming this far south to surprise me...hopr it's fun! Congrats on becoming a MIL....that's what my Tess calls me...Mil, and Gary is Fil. Cute, huh?

Yesterday turned out to be crazy. The person who's hair I went to do was a pain in the keester, something I rarely deal with at this stage of my career. Most folks trust my 33 yrs experience and don't argue when i tell them that if they haven't had a haircut in 3 years cutting 2 inches off isn't going to make it look healthy. Oh well.

So, I worked on my day off, and have been at the salon most evenings this last couple of weeks. Gary called before he left work to see if I was home and if I had planned anything for dinner. Gee, I thought, he's going to suggest going out. Didn't know if I was too tired or not, but I did think it was sweet, so i asked him what he had in mind.
"There's a class 3 sex offender who is supposed to be going to his girlfriends little boy's birthday party at Larry's Pizza and we're going to go bust him". So, I asked, are you asking me out to dinner at a stake out, or telling me you aren't coming home for dinner? My momma told me if a fella asked you to a dog fight you should go, so I went to the stake out. Sure enough, there was a guy there that could have been him, but their photo of him was old and this guy had facial hair. Gary called the local police, I met them outside so Gary and his partner could keep an eye on him. So, here is a restaurant full of people and their kids, two birthday parties going on, and here comes three squad cars and four cops.

Turns out the guy wasn't the one they've been looking for for the last six months.

Gee, I'm  married to one romantic guy!

Hope you all have a great day

Susan
