Hi all,

We are off to VA today.  We are meeting family tomorrow at the Army Woman's Museum in Petersburg.  Then head back here on Sunday. I haven't recovered from the last trip yet.  Oh well.  Right now, I don't care when we leave.  I really don't want to go but I know once I am there, it will be fun.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Carla,
Congratulations on the news of your daughter's soon to be marital bliss.

I have finished my summer II syllabus and my day to day notes are pretty complete as well.  Just in time.  School starts Monday.  Today, I am spending the day writing.  My weeks of research have paid off and the article is coming together nicely.  I hope to have the rough draft completed by Sunday.

I want to stay home today but have another meeting this afternoon.  But, after that, I am free as a bird.  I think after I get some of my academic responsibilites completed, I am going to get an old movie out, or find an old movie, and just let my brain rest.

I am, like many of you, shocked over the death of MJ.  I think we were expecting FF death because of her struggles with cancer and her getting weaker and her family and friends' who so candidly reported about her condition, but MJ was a shock.  Even though he has had so many accusations against him and his behavior has not always been fitting of a king, he started in the buisness so young and from his own reports was often physically and emotionally abused by his father.  I think the sadness that I feel for him is that he was never allowed to be a normal child or a normal adult and now his children are left defensless.  I'm sure there will be a huge custody battle over his older two.  Poor, poor children.

Brenda, I hope your infection heals.  It sounds like your doctor is trying to get the infection stopped.

Hope you all have a good day.

Congrats Carla to your daughter and your family! My daughter's wedding was a lot of fun. I'm reminded of all of those occassions in our lives. Happy and sad they are make up our lives don't they? Enjoy the planning leading up to the event. Do you have a date yet?

I've been so busy here this week. During the day the twins are at daycare but early and late are busy. They have been coughing a lot this week. Lots of pollen in the air so don't know if it's just that or a cold coming on.

My daughter handles it so well and works also. I am glad she is young and healthy! I love coming to visit but after a week I'll need a week or R and R!

Was hoping to get to meet up with Julia on her way down I-5 on Sunday but don't know if it will work out or not. We've exchanged numbers so if at all possible we will connect for at least a cup of something! I'd love to meet her in person.

It's time for babies to start stirring. I hear someone rattling the crib! You all have a good day.

Good afternoon

Not much happening here, too hot.  It has been 104 and over all this week.  Don't want to know what the heat index is.  Going to a movie in a few minutes so I am loaded up with my protein drink and a few exceptable snacks.

Going to a crawfish boil tomorrow evening and maybe a museum on Sunday after church.  Too hot to do anything outside.

Prayers for those who need them.

Have a good one.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:

Well, congrats, Carla ... I know you've been waiting for this. I've tried calling you several times, but it goes right to voicemail. You've been in Michigan for so long and I've hardly seen you.

I am in a really blue mood. I wish I had the weekend off, but nope, got to work today and tomorrow. It's 85 and sunny ... we were supposed to have rain last night but didn't. I guess that's good news actually for those people whose cars are still stuck in the parking lot in Ionia from the flood last weekend at the fairgrounds after the Birthday Bash. (see the coverage here: It's a big free country music festival a radio station hosts every here, but the heavy rains flooded the fairgrounds and now a lot of people can't retrieve their cars: http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2009/06/ins urance_agent_says_owners_of.html). It was a real mess.

I had to go to four stores yesterday to find a set of cordless phones that were reasonably priced and had a headset jack. Staples didn't have it, nor did Meijer; Best Buy had one phone for $44.99 but then you had to buy the second phone for the same price ... not such a "Best Buy" then. The salesman said they don't have a lot of landline phones anymore, just cell phones. Well, some of us don't have cell phones, I'm sorry. So then, in the 90-degree heat and high humidity, with my groceries sweltering in the trunk, I went to Office Max ... they had two systems and I bought the Verizon pair. So far, I'm happy but trying to figure out some of the features ... like where do you find the Caller ID menus? Oh well, small thing.

Connie, I'm glad you are home and doing OK. Pat, when is your surgery? I didn't get home until nearly 2 a.m. yesterday because I had to do a review so I didn't get up until after noon. I'm really running behind.

Well, I should find some food. Still drinking coffee.

Have a good day ... I gotta find some reason to get out of this funk. Tell me a reason to do so. This crying isn't doing me any good.

Hey Eileen -- sorry you are in a funk.....hope you feel better soon.

My surgery is next Wed. July 1st, 11:30 a.m. Borgess Hospital in K'zoo.
He says only a couple days in hospital -- can walk on it right away.

Two weeks off work hopefully.....not looking forward to this.

Pat R.

Had Lunch with Carla and a nice chat - guided her down to the Toll Rd and she's at Margo's now -- she just called me.

Geez, only two weeks off? I was off six weeks for my knee and really need a couple more.

I know, it's tough ... that revision on my knee took a lot out of me.

Ortho doc No. 2 used the same scar to do my revision, too, so I'm not surprised yours is doing the same to your hip.

I have Friday and Saturday off, and if I had money, I'd come down and help you out ... but sorry, I'm a little strapped.

He said I could go back to work provided I had a sit down job
which I do.....I am taking my two weeks vacation for the time I am off, otherwise I don't get paid.....I'm part time and don't have any pd
time off, except for my 2 wks vacation.   The part that worries me
the most is being put to sleep...... I have a lot of trouble waking up
from anesthesia....I am hoping they can do a spinal, but will just have
to see ....  I won't even have to do physical therapy....but he said
there would be a couple exercises I will need to do at home. the sorest part will be the long incision with staples which means I
won't be able to shower for two weeks, will have to take sink baths.

I appreciate your offer to come stay and I know you are having
a hard time financially - just keep me in your thoughts and prayers
and send me a msg on facebook or OH once in a while and that will
make me very happy.  My kids are close by and I have many good friends and wonderful neighbors, so I won't be alone......besides
Fluffy will be happy to have me home all the time!!

I've often wondered why you chose Chapt. 13 instead of Chapt. 7
when you filed for bankruptcy??  Most ppl do Chapt. 7......
I deal with bankruptcies at the bank - it's part of my job.  Just
wondered....

Off to bed now.....will finish cleaning house in the morning and make
a trip to Wal Mart for kitty litter and a couple other items I need
and I think I will be all set.

Take care and thanks Eileen for being a friend,
Pat
