Aloha Susan and OFF kids........

Wow...it's 7:30 a.m. here and I've been up since around 5:30. My kids just called from Calif. and as always it's bedlam at their house. My son, DIL and the three boys (1, 3 & 4) are all on speakerphone and talking at once........yikes!! They are so busy that it makes my head spin when they tell me their plans. They are off on Wed. to their condo in Tahoe for 5 days, and then they have a week of work, and then another week at Cal Berkley's Alumni "Lair" which is a week of camping in Northern Calif. with all kinds of activities for the kids, adults, etc. (My DIL graduated from Cal) They have to pack so much to take 3 small children.....oh, it makes me tired thinking about it.

Thankfully, I am almost back to normal after feeling like crap for too long. Yesterday I was so energized that I tore into my bedroom like the white tornado! It was wonderful last night to take a shower and crawl into a fresh bed and actually feel good. I slept for 7 hours...also amazing. I don't think I will ever take good health and feeling good for granted again. It really is EVERYTHING!! When you don't feel well, it colors everything and makes beauty disappear into a fog of discomfort. I am able now to feel even more compassion for those of you dealing with physical problems than I could when I was feeling great myself. I guess we have these challenges for a reason.

Susan, I feel for you not being able to sleep. That, too, is one of those things that can rob your life of feeling good. Lack of sleep is a bummer, and I think many of us struggle with that from time to time.

So, I hope you all have a nice Sunday, and I'm going to go have a 2nd cup of coffee and read the Sunday paper.

With so much aloha,

Maui Karen

Karen, I am so glad that you are starting to feel better. I know that being sick with pneumonia is not fun at all. You can be so miserable...you just want to fall into bed and pull the covers up over your head.

Take care of yourself and know that you are kept in my prayers for a full and fast recovery.

Sending you lots of love and gentle hugs to you across the country....

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

MK,

Sure glad you are feeling better. I've never had pneumonia. My son had the "walking" kind when he was about 10. He'd had a cold, was better, sent him to school. By the time he got there he told his teacher his "heart" hurt so bad. That's what he had. He loved the doctor's orders: no school for a week. I was his house servant for the time off; he loved it!

What were your symptoms other than low energy? I know you were nauseated some. I don't understand that part do you? Just curious; medical learning curve here. Trying to learn in case it rears its ugly head in my life some day. I don't want to have to go through all that you have. I hope this is helping with the sad and depressed feelings that you've been dealing with also.

Enjoy that beautiful sunrise for me too!

Aloha Karen......Thank you for your sweet words. I did have the "walking" kind of pneumonia I'm told. I think I have had it for quite awhile...it just kept getting a little better and then would return and I would be DOWN.
I think I had it when you were here.

My symptoms were mostly debilitating tiredness, low energy and occasionally weird chills, headache, etc. Today I am feeling good....and getting ready to go to work....20 hours this week including tomorrow with "my babies."

This whole ordeal has made me so grateful for good health!! Until you don't have it, you don't really appreciate it I have found. I think that is the lesson I was supposed to learn from all of this.

With much aloha,

Karen

Was the nausea a part of it also?

No.....nausea I think was associated with tummy problems. That made it more difficult to diagnose for a long time.

So. . . beating a dead horse here. . . still having the tummy problems? Or not?

Hi Susan and my OFF family:

It finally cooled down around here, but it sure is windy. We had some big thunderstorms late last night while I was up watching my DVR version of the Sox-Cubs game (Sox won, 8-7, otherwise I wouldn't have watched it). It was quiet over by Sports when that game was going on toward the end when the Sox came back to lose it ... everybody loves the Cubbies, I'm the only Sox fan around.  But I was happy.

Jeannie, I sure can understand about the allergies ... if I didn't have four allergy meds, I would barely be able to stand the season. I keep everything closed up until June, until the trees are done blooming. Can't stand to have flowers in house, either. I love them, they're pretty, but they make me sneeze and wheeze. I'm very allergic to lilacs ... found that out when I lived in South Dakota and had lilac bushes all around the side of the house I rented and had the windows opened ... came home at dinner and took a nap one night and got up and sneezed all night, even after taking the allergy pills.

Not much going on today. Baseball, laundry, dishes, reading ... just relaxing. I need a couple days off to rest and recuperate. I just need to be by myself for awhile. My friend Mary Kay called and asked me to come over today, but I'm just too tired to do much. Talked to my mom this morning and tried to call my brother Gary, but nothing picked up ... not even voicemail. Hmmm ... wonder what happened there?

Well, the game has started, so I'm off to my recliner. Have a good day.
