It wasn't the gallbladder......
Thanks for the well wishes Lisa. Dr. Dan is a wonderful man and I'm so thankful that he was there for me. I firmly believe that he saved my life. You made a great choice girl!
I still cannot believe that I managed to make it to that support group meeting before heading over to the hospital. I could kick myself for not getting there sooner. I never thought it was this bad. I was really disappointed this morning when I looked in the mirror before showering to find that my incision is actually 9" instead of 6" (I think my husband lied to me!). My tummy really looks like a road map now.
OK - gotta rest some more, I'm so extremely tired. But I will see you next month!

Marlee,
I'm glad they did the surgery and that it appears successful! Enjoy the pain meds for awhile!
A quick Google search on Petersen Space Hernia will provide lots more information about the situation. I do know someone who went through it, had doctors that were unfamiliar with the condition and pushed her close to crisis with a "wait and see" attitude. These were not experienced bariatric surgeons. She was more than two years out from surgery and didn't think it was wls related. When she contacted her original surgeon, he did some research, quickly opened her up and tied (not scientific term) some things in place so it wouldn't happen again.

Jane, thank you for the information on Petersen Space Hernia, but I don't think that my condition involved the bowel at all. I see my surgeon on Thurs., so I will try to get a more specific definition on exactly what my condition actually was. I just want to be assure that #1 - it won't return, and #2 - it won't lend itself to other possible complications that I need to be on the lookout for. Because from now on, I promise to pester the heck out of them until they relent and check me NOW for any concerns I have!
I have decided to take full advantage of my pain meds this time around. It is much more painful to have an open procedure done vs a lap procedure. Thanks again for the info......

Thanks Connie. I was, and still am, scared to death. I can't believe that this happened to me, not that I'd want it to happen to anyone else either. I was playing by all of the rules, and doing so well, or so I thought....
I'm just really afraid that something else is going to end up "wrong". We have a tendency to take things for granted, especially when everything seems to be getting along so well. We can't second guess things - if something just doesn't seem right, pursue it until you get the answers you need. You know your body better than any doctor can....
I am so glad they found out what it was Marlee and took care of it. I promise you the scar will cease to matter to you after a while. I was obsessive about my pre surgery diet just so could have it done lap..and it worked, Then 2-3 years later I had , what sounds very much what happened to you and had to have open surgery. My intestine was not put back together correctly and 3 months later it happened AGAIN !!!! Two opens in three months. I was afraid to eat for a long time, I just felt I was doing something wrong ( I hadn't and neither did you) The scars are NOTHING today. You will bounce back before you know it. Be good to yourself. Blessings
