It's Wednesday, my week is almost over. WHAT'S NEW WITH YOU?
I second George. MK I almost always pop back in or go back the next day to catch the previous "What's New." If I don't I may have missed something and I sure don't want that to happen. This thread really helps keep me in the loop. Then if there's something I don't "get" I just click on latest posts for that person and usually kinda, sorta figure it out!

Karen,
It is after 8pm here. I always read your posts. I love them.
I know sometimes I don't post, but lately I have. I think it's because I have been skipping my treadmill. So, when I start that up again, I will prob not post so much.
So glad you are feeling better.

We never touch people so lightly we do not leave a trace.

Hi George and my OFF family:
What a nice guy you are! Do you have a clone? I need someone to do something nice for me, too.
We had our goodbye lunch for our two Row 3 guys from the copy desk today at Founders brewpub in Grand Rapids. Their last day was actually yesterday, so goodbye to Dixon and Gary. They and seven others took the buyout and left yesterday; two others will leave at the end of this month. We are losing a lot of talented people. We had a nice luncheon, but after one beer, I'm really loopy. Let me explain Row 3: At our office, the copy desk has three rows, and I'm in Row 3 along with Dixon, Gary, Mike and Kim (and Jeff, who left to be on the Web desk). Well, now it's just me and Kim. We had a coworker take a Row 3 photo of the gang; I'll have to post it once I get it uploaded. We had a nice time ... it was a lot of copy desk folk along with a few others: some of Dixon's kids (his daughter is a photographer at the paper), another photographer, a Metro editor and an entertainment writer. Yesterday's big editorial picnic was nice, too ... it didn't rain, but it was chilly and very sad, too, to say goodbye to everyone. Our news columnist was funny ... when I said goodbye to him, he said, "It's nice that you could come back." I said I never left ... he never sees me during the day, so he thought I retired or quit. Ha!
I had my 5-year bariatric checkup yesterday and because I had my lab report, I was able to ask lots of questions. It's funny, because they are concerned this year that my protein is low, but my PA told my protein was actually lower last year ... and they didn't point that out? Here I've thought I'm doing well, and they haven't taken the time to tell me my protein is low? I was a little ticked at that. Well, more than a little ticked. They are very adamant that we get our protein from food sources, and I understand the reasons behind that, but if my protein is low, and I think I'm getting enough protein from food ... obviously I need more protein from another source. So I asked her about protein powders and she immediately said, "Oh, well, you have to be careful about those because they could cause you to gain weight." Well, something's amiss if I'm already creeping up and my protein is low (and I don't know why it's low and why I'm gaining weight). Needless to say, I think we all should ask for a copy of our lab reports to be able to ask these questions from now on. I think we'd learn a lot more about the state of our bodies.
Last day of work for me today ... very short work and can I say I really am looking forward to the time off? I really can't wait to head north with Michael and Margo and the birds to Nan's OFF retreat.
I still hope to make chocolate zucchini muffins tomorrow (but I have to buy almond extract ... mine evaporated with the lid on!) so I'll have to do that while I'm waiting for Margo. Hopefully, it'll get done.
I need a nap to drink off the beer (it's called Dirty ******* ... 8 percent alcohol really hits you harder, even with food).
See ya later.

Hi George and all my OFF friends,
I'm another one who can't really get to post until the afternoon.
I offered to have a picnic on Sunday for my husband's side of the family. We are even arranging for the health care service to bring his home-bound Aunt who is 86. We should have a total of 15 coming.
My house is never ready for company so I just schedule it and run around like a fool getting ready. I work better with a goal. Besides, if I waited until my house was perfect for entertaining, I'd never have anyone over.
Tomorrow night we are going to the town fireworks and they have a band that plays too.
My Mom is home from the hospital and doing well. She has two more weeks of blood thinners to take before they put her heart back into regular rhythm. They are trying to prevent clots. She is not out of the woods yet, but happy to be home.
I'm struggling with weight gain. The afternoons at work are the worst. I wish we didn't have those damn vending machines. I don't seem to be able to resist and I bring acceptable snacks and eat those too. It's definitely a head thing I have to get past.
George, I've had one gift from hubby in the last year (nada for Christmas, too) that I asked him for. So you're doin' good kid.
Happy 4th to all,
Bev

Bev, Those darn vending machines. Seems like they are everywhere calling my name, luring me over just for a "look." I try not to have any appropriate change and little or no cash. I'm not going to beg or borrow so sometimes that gets me through the "I want/ I gotta have" stage. It's a bugger. I so understand.
