What's new Thursday?
I'm about ready to call it a night (or for the rest of you, a morning, although I'll be up later this morning ... earlier than normal, but later). Thought I'd check for my payroll deposit ... it's not there; wish they'd be more consistent. Now I've got to check it again before I do my running around in the morning, and I've got so much to do later before Margo and Michael pick me up. Got to go to the bank, pick up some stuff at the store, meet a friend for lunch, scoop litter boxes, pack, etc. (I still hope to make chocolate zucchini muffins, but that may not get done.)
Not much going on at work, although I did meet the new executive editor. He was walking around the office late in the day and there I was, all alone in the copy desk area. He said, "I didn't see you here earlier today. Are you all alone?" I told him I was the resident night owl; I just fly in after 6. Then I introduced myself and told him how I got to have the night shift. He seems nice. One of the my coworkers said he stopped by during deadline yesterday and said, "Oh, you guys look busy, I won't bother you." I laughed ... that's a switch, the old guy would have wanted to tweak a headline or change the order of stories on the page.
Well, I'm really tired. I could get used to working just two days a week. Looking forward to getting away! I'll try to check back later.
Chat away.
Was at the Rangers game tonight. We are now 1/2 game out of first again. Six tough games coming up. Rays and then Angels in LA. These are important. After that we can make sure Seattle gets the message before the All Star game.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
It is suppose to be warmer today...heck it was cold yesterday and so I am looking forward to that. It is suppose to be in the 80's for the next couple of days. That sounds good to me...I am so cold this morning. She now said that it is just going to be in the mid 70's today. Oh brother!
Bill is working days today. He wasn't happy after getting home close to midnight and then getting up at 5 this morning. He wasn't talking much that is for sure. I feel sorry for him having to cut his sleep short but I am glad that he is going to be home this evening..I like it when we have a "normal" family night.
I go to the doctor this afternoon. The nurse called yesterday and talked to the nurse and boy was Erica angry...his nurse put her on hold 3 times and never came back to her. All of that for the time of my appointment which she told Erica I had but we both knew that I didn't. Hmm...I do believe that Dr. Stanish and I are having a chat this afternoon. Erica told the nurse that she wanted me to see the doctor and to make sure she told him that today is day 9 of the antibiotic and it is still there...and that I am having a lot of pain and so something is not right there. Now if all this happens...
I have to go get some cookbooks today that I am getting off freecycle. I collect cookbooks and so they will be fun to read. Yes...I read cookbooks from cover to cover. I have some of my Mom's that go back to the early 40's and I love those. I don't use them most of the time since we cook so differently now. But still and all they are still fun to read...and I have read them often.
I am saddened by the death of Karl Malden. He once lived in Gary and Ella's mom and his mom were friends. Ella said that she was so nice and sweet and that when her son was in Gary to visit he would take her to the beauty shop to get her hair done. She was very old when she passed just like Karl was..he was 97 years old. He and his wife just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He was so good at his trade...just an excellent actor. He was born in Chicago and moved to Gary early and started working in our famous mills here. He hated it and went to acting school.
Well, I better get to moving. Have a great day and know that I am sending love and hugs to you all along with prayers being said for everyone too. Don't forget to spread the happiness and joy that we have in our lives now. There is so much to celebrate with our new lives and new journeys....we have our own Independence Day to celebrate, don't we?
My check only goes in once a month during the school year and they send an email to tell me that it is deposited so that's good. My hubby's, though, goes in every other week. He also gets bonuses every couple of months and those go in unannounced. He doesn't get a fake payroll check. He also has a credit card that the company puts money one for customer compliments and since my hubby is so nice and patient with his people, they always or almost always compliment his work and so the credit card will get ten or twenty dollars dumped in for a movie or meal. Once, someone made a mistake and put his bonus on the credit card and not in the bank and we kept telling them we didn't get it and they said yes, it shows you did and finally someone tracked it down. Our little credit card got a lot of activity in the day or two afterwards. LOL
Today is the usual: drink the coffee, eat the toast, go to school, teach the kids, walk my mile, come home. Today, though, I need to make stuff for the weekend parties. Yeah, I got invited to two fourth events. I am only making an appearance at one. I'll drop off my dish, have a glass of wine, and head out the door. But the second one, I'll stay at until they run us off. LOL So, I am making two dishes and today is the only time I'll have to make them.
Getting the kids tonight too, so I'll be busy with them.
Well, coffee is done so I am going to start consuming my stimulant.
have a good day.

My first day of "vacation" and I am up at 4:30.
My mom, sis and I are crashing the Men's Thursday Morning Breakfast. My dad, husband and brother in law have met for breakfast for years every Thursday and we have NEVER crashed before. They meet at Perkin's and so we'll get to see them in their element, as all the staff and other patrons know them all.
Then maybe my sister and I will go thrift-storing. Not sure, it will be pretty early yet.
I got my yearly eval yesterday, was really good, I got all exceeds expectations or whatever is the highest you can get. I know I am bragging but it does feel great having my boss telling me how glad she is I am there and that I do a good job...well, ok an exceptional job

I asked if I could work one week a month 4/10s and have Friday off, she said no. I knew she would but had to at least try. She did agree to let me have one early Friday a month so I can come in really early and leave really early. I meant to ask for an early day every week, but I get so nervous when I am in that position, I screwed it up. Oh, well, if it goes well, in a few months I will ask for 2 early days a month.
It will be very hard not to eat things I shouldn't or do more eating/grazing while I'm off work these few days.
One of the things I plan to do is sit and get my I-pod all straightened out and loaded with all the mixs/ CDs husband has made me over the years.
Brenda, I sure hope that Dr. gets on the ball and gives you the correct med. I know I have said I work at a rehab/care center and I can't tell you how often my residents get some kind of infection or other and the nurses are right on it letting the docs know if the anti-biotic is not working. Most docs really listen to them but there are a few who have a bit of an ego problem...
Pat, I hope you are feeling OK with your hip. Take advantage of the pain meds. I had a nurse tell me once I didn't get an award for standing lots of pain and not taking the meds....so I needed to take them and regularly too to keep the pain in check....I am sure you are doing great...just wanted to share what my wise nurse said....
Once again, I am wishing I was one of the lucky ones meeting one of you guys....Eileen, Nan, Margo? How bout a little detour west, I bet Millie and Karen would join us too if you swerved over here a ways.

Take Care all,
Cheryl

Last night we had such a great time downtown chicago. We went to the taste of Chicago and I only had a little Italian Ice. It was exspensive. 12 tickets for 8 dollars. Everything was 9 to 12 tickets.
Then we went to an outside concert by the Grant Park symphany. It was free.
We played around the sculptures of Millenium park and did a little window shopping.
Now we are gearing to drive to Traverse City. I think Ill take the indiana toll road for a bit and stop in Shipsawana.
My trip is winding down and we are leaving for home around the 13th.

It is very early here.....5:20 a.m....and I'm all showered, powdered and brushed .... ready to go to the hospital to test "my babies." As I look to my left out my big slider windows I can see the outline of Haleakela across the ocean....all shades of black, dark blue, pink....very dramatic pre dawn view with the palm trees in stark relief against the ocean backdrop. I love all the stages of the sunrise........and never tire of seeing it.
Yesterday was a lovely day at home. I had a couple of neighbors drop in for catch up sessions and that was good. My 84 year old friend who lives next door has been depressed and "DOWN" now for weeks...and she came over....a triple treat!! She is one of those interesting characters we are honored to meet a few times in our lives. She was an entertainer in Hollywood as a child, then taught dance in Calif, then moved to Maui and taught Hula for years, then became a professional clown.....yadda yadda. Such wonderful stories come from her when she's feeling well. Her poor little body was so crazy active with all the dance and pratfalls as a clown that it is now breaking down on her..but her spirit is strong, and her sense of humor is beyond delightful. Wow...I digress.
Today I have a home birth baby to test. I'm a little worried about that because I have no history on him/her, and the testing is different. Hopefully I won't botch it too badly.
Jeannie...I loved reading about your "feet" and all the responses. I guess I'm lucky because I do nothing except shower and seem to have pretty smooth feet. But, I have very oily skin, always have...and that probably has something to do with it.
So...now I'm off to the hospital to meet and greet July 1st new arrivals to this world! How lucky am I!!!!
Aloha nui loa,

This is my last day of work for this week. I have no idea what I will be doing this weekend. Dwayne wants to take me somewhere. We will have to talk about it tonight. I would like to go to the parade on Saturday morning if at all possible. There are several things going on all weekend.
Kyleigh gets to come home for the weekend. Carrie will pick her up tonight. I wish I could go down to see them but I know I can't handle that long of a drive. They have plans for the weekend so they won't be able to make it up here this time. I will call and talk to Kyleigh as much as I can. I sure do miss her!!
Next week...the 8th I will be having Gracie (2 yrs) for 10 days while Jamie and Nic are in Montana. Amanda (15) will be here to help me out. Dwayne will be here too. We will make it just fine. Jamie was worried it would be too much for me. Nothing will stop me from doing this for them!!
My wonderful cleaning fairy is here....what a blessing she is!! I am so fortunate to have her here every week.
I best get back to work...plenty of things to wrap up yet today.
Prayers to those in need. Be kind to each other!!
Love and hugs to all....connie d
