I'm Home! -- Happy 4th of July
Got home around 4 p.m. yesterday......the ride home made me sick to
my stomach, don't know why, as I hadn't been the whole time. Anyway
I am all settled in - had lots of help last evening and I'm sure lots of company today. It was an uneventful surgery and with all the pain meds they gave me, I actually slept like a baby most of the time. Now I am only taking extra strength tylenol as needed.
The only down side to the surgery was that I have "dropped foot syndrome".....it was caused by the nerve that controls the top of my foot being stretched too far during surgery (incidently I only have a
six in*****ision). So I have to walk very carefully and be sure to
pick up my foot or I trip over my own toes! They are having an brace
insert made that should help and it is supposed to be delivered Monday. The condition can last from 2 weeks to 2 months.
I also have to give myself injections of blood thinner because I refused to take the daily asprin he prescribed. That will be for
two weeks-- they cost over $800 but my deductible was only $76
thank God for insurance.
Otherwise I've taken my daily "sink" bath and washed my hair in
the kitchen sink and I'm dressed and drinking my first cup of decaf
in a few days.
Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers, and concerns.....they were most certainly appreciated.
I appreciate this land of the U.S.A. so very much and am proud to
say "I am an American". Thank God for our freedoms and the
wonderful land we have.
Love,
Pat R.

it's always nice when someone posts to tell us one is alright after surgeyr but it is so much better to see the surger-ee actually back online!!!
hugs to you!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Yeah, I had to give myself the Lovenox shots too ... they're not so bad. They didn't even give me the option of aspirin or the shots ... just the shots. They cost me $50 (my copay).
You're fortunate your pain isn't too bad. I was on vicodin for a long time afterward and still take it for my knee and back.
Pat, I'm glad all is well. I'll try to call you but it sounds like you're going to have lots of company to keep you occupied.
I am glad that the foot problem is temporary...and they are doing something to help you. It just wouldn't be a good thing for you tripping over your own little toes! That wouldn't be good for you and if you are anything like me...it would be embarrassing too! I don't fall gracefully that is for darn sure.
I am sorry that I didn't call you back on Thursday...it was a day that didn't go well at the doctor's. I will fill you in on that when we talk next. Yesterday was a busy day...running all over town with Bill who had the day off for the 4th..he was a happy boy that is for sure!! He practically danced all over the place. ha ha Not always a pretty sight for sure.
We will talk the next few days...take care of our Pat and make sure that you don't overdo. Know that I am so glad that you are fine and I send you love and lots of hugs too. Prayers of course go for you without ever asking me...always for my Pat!
