So happy to have found my age group!

I am so happy to have found this age group forum! I kept reading the main forum and found many young people who have had the surgery but was sure they couldn't understand the unique difficulties of being over 50. I have completed all of the paperwork and am waiting on approval. All forms sent to insurance on June 25. I am excited about the possibility of getting my health improved. I have stage 3 kidney disease. Has anyone else had this condition pre-op?
Happy to find a forum like this one!

Welcome, Penny!

No, I don't know of anyone have stage 3 kidney disease, but someone may pop up.

This is a great group. Join in and ask questions if you have any. I think most people over 50 are more compliant than the younger set because we are a little more eager to get health issues settled. We've been through so many diets and know most don't work for us. So we want this last-ditch effort to work (or at least that was my experience).

I am five years out, have lost 180 pounds, kept most of it off (having a little weight gain lately, unexplained, mostly fluid retention in my legs due to knee surgery) and have resolved many problems, including gaining back 1 inch in height that was lost due to disc compression ... so I'm now 5-4 instead of 5-3.

Hope you get approved soon.

Hijack - Eileen - I've lost one inch, and I hope that the same thing happens to me so that I am, once again, 5' 7" after surgery!

Hi again, Penny. I posted to you on the What are we eating thread.

Welcome again to OFF and know that we are so glad to see you. This is a place of happiness, kindness and love. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask them because we have so many smart and knowledgeable people here that you for sure will get an answer. I am like Eileen , I am not sure of the stage 3 kidney disease but someone might have something for it.

Welcome and we hope to see you post here often. Just pull up a comfy chair and put your feet up and join our little chatter. We are a bunch of little chatterboxes that is for sure...and some of us...mainly me...are better at it than others. Ha Ha....

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
