Hi There
Need to vent some stuff. Most of you know that I have been dealing with
back pain since last October. Will my PCP sent me to a neurology Doc for
that pain & also some nerve problems I was having in my left arm. Well
that Doc ended up sending me yesterday for a bone scan of my back. Not
MRI or CT scan, this was a nuclear bone scan that just reads the bones
in your back. They ended up doing a MRI, as they seem to think there is
some kind of infection in my middle back area. They did rule out a
fracture & cancer (that is the good news). However, they have opened
up a big can of worms for me by not telling me zip. My mind has not
stopped since & only had about 3 hrs sleep last night. I know that I have had 2
major kidney infections & maybe the infections moved into
that area & the antibiotics did not clear it up. I did have blood work
done last week & it looks like I might be anemic again. Which might be
part of this. Just all kinds of things jumping around in my head.
I probably won't get any answers till next week due to that holiday week
end, so I just need to calm down & try not to stress eat because of it.
They said it is not Cancer, but, you know how are minds work when they
don't tell you S&^* about anything. If any Nurses are reaing this & might give
me some insight as to what it could be, let me Know.
Thanks for those of you still reading, that I could vent. Don't have
anyone around my house to vent to Or would even listen if I did, so
Thank God for this board. It does help. Thanks for letting me vent & I did not get too
long winded. Love you all !!

Whoa!!! breathe.....I'm sure if it was something really critical the doctor would have told you, but being they didn't I would think it is just something you and the doc can deal with on a less "stat" playing field.

Keep yourself busy....do something different, read a book, watch some movies, garden, walk, exercise, window shop, etc etc......

Marilyn, relax; most of the time they can't tell you anything. You were lucky they told you it wasn't cancer, so that eases your mind. The techs can't say anything; they have to wait for the doctor to read the scan and the MRI.

I understand about not having anyone to vent to; I have just the cats to talk to, too. So a lot of times I get on the phone and call someone ... Brenda, Carla, Paulette ... you can call any of us on the board if you want to talk ... I'm home all day if you want to talk and I'm always willing to listen. If I didn't have the people on this board, I'd probably be emotional eating all day long. These people have kept me on the straight and skinny. (And Margie, too, rest in peace ... how I miss her! I could always vent to Margie.)

Please, if you need to talk, call me. And try not to worry so much.

I have a roommate, boyfriend wannabe that is an alcoholic, so that should say enough
about that one. That is why I am trying so hard to get a job & move by myself.
That would be better than what I do have.
Thanks for the support!!

Hi Marilyn,
I know that right now it may be hard to look at this in a positive way, but here's my thought- if it isn't cancer, and he said it isn't, then it can most likely be fixed completely. Nerve damage is not able to be fixed, bone damage is usually something people have to live with or have surgery that may or may not work- but infection- there are a lot of options, especially when you figure out what exactly you are dealing with....you may need IV antibiotics for a week or so (that's what happened with my knee infection) but the doctor put me on an IV hook-up that could be re-hooked up when I needed the treatment, so I was free to roam the hospital for the rest of each day. That week in the hospital ended up as a very relaxing and pampering week for me. And at the end of that week my infection and the pain of it were long gone. It is good to vent Marilyn... I understand your anxiety. By the way, I am not a nurse, so my suggestions are just related to my sense of things and my own experience. Panicking never helps. If you have a xanex tablet take one and try to do something relaxing.

Marylyn,
The others already gave good advice. I'll just toss in a hug.

It is so hard to wonder and worry. We are here to listen for as long as you need.

Marilyn, first off I want to tell you that you never have to feel that you are being a PITA (my name for pain in the a$$) to any of us. We are here to listen (sometimes that is all we can do and all that you need) and to offer support to you. So never feel that you are bothering us...we are a family and that is what family is for...to listen and to reassure.

I know that it is going to be hard to do but just relax and breathe! Wow, I could just hear you letting it all out..just like I do, that is how I know what you sounded like. ha ha

I agree with everyone on here...I bet is it is nothing serious because if it was the tech would have seen something. They know things when they see them...they are a professional after all. She would have called someone. My bet is that is minor and that is why you have to wait. Just like everyone said find something that will take your mind off the situation and you will be fine.

I am sending you lots of love and big hugs to go with it....and know that we all care. If you need to talk just call me..if you need my number just pm me...and if you pay for long distance let me know and I will call you back.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
