It is Sunday and is anyone out there.......
Good Morning everyone.
Had a good day yesterday but was I tired!!!
I am 57. Are we supposed to try to keep up teens and preteens? I currently have 5, 3 teens and 2 preteens. Great kids all, their greatgrandmother has done such a wonderful job raising them!!! But they do wear me out!
We are heading for Kansas wed for a wedding. No way can we afford to take 5 kids along let alone feed them in restaurants for a week! Thank goodness they have a member of their church willing to come stay with the kids.
Have a great day everyone.

Hi Brenda and my OFF family:
Gee, we finally have nice weather ... blue skies, pleasant temps and no rain in sight (although it didn't rain yesterday at all).
I didn't do much yesterday ... went to Meijer to get my chicken and a few other things, called my brother, rode my exercycle while I was on the phone for 30 minutes (and it hurt like hell), watched baseball and read all day, made some turkey rollups ... yes, George, I watched the Rangers game and the Angels game too. Brewing my coffee now ... knee felt good when I got up and now it's hurting again. Cheryl, I understand how your dad feels.
No big plans today ... watching baseball, laundry, may make some zucchini muffins because I have to use up this zucchini before it goes to liquid. I will cycle a while too, even though it hurts, but maybe not 30 minutes.
Work is going to beckon earlier tomorrow ... I start training at 1 p.m. and then work follows after. I'll be going in at 1 for two weeks ... it's going to be brutal, working from 1 until whenever I get finished. The worst day will be Friday, when I'll work from 1 p.m. til midnight. The overtime will be nice, however, because I won't get my shift differential, even though I'll still work nights, because it's when you start, not when you finish.
Well, that's all for me. Have a good day.

Just a quick note to let y'all know - Janet W is back on Texas soil and headed north to the DFW area as we speak. She has LOTS of good stories and some great pictures!!!
Oh, and be sure to ask her about the "beagle and the bananas!"

Aloha and good morning Brenda and OFF sibs....
Yesterday was a nice, quiet day here and I did NOT miss the crowds, the pressure to cook, etc. I am always in awe of those of you who bake, cook, prepare these wonderful meals for many. I don't think I have that in me any longer. I used to do it for years......BIG picnics, dinners, celebrations, and now I think of it as WORK...not fun! Thankfully I have a wonderful friend/neighbor who is an excellent cook and she treats me with goodies all the time. I try to do favors for her in return because I appreciate the home cooking so much.
Speaking of neighbors, yesterday was nice with back and forths with several friends in my building. My 84 year old friend is feeling MUCH better and I am so happy for that. I was returning from picking up an Rx at Kaiser and her bedroom window was wide open and she was changing her sheets and waiting for her "cleaning angel" to arrive. I know she feels better when her house is clean and she has a fresh bed. Me, too!!
For dinner last night I had steak, broccoli and strawberries with cool whip for dessert. I ate out on the lanai while watching fireworks down the beach where they were put on by locals. Very nice and I didn't have to drive anywhere.
Now that the 4th is over.....it seems like Labor Day comes all too quickly, and summer is over. Actually my favorite time on Maui is fall/winter so I look forward to summer ending. But, this year I am worrying big time about Sept. and moving out for a week with my kitties while they tent our building. I still don't know what I'm going to do with them...but I need to make arrangements soon so I can get them used to carriers, etc. Small potatoes in the grand scheme of things though, I know. When I read of some of your problems I feel guilty worrying about such a small thing like stressed out kitties!! Sorry to those of you with REAL problems!!
Sunday paper just arrived....time to read that and have some breakfast. My neighbor brought over banana bread made from apple bananas taken from their home upcountry. I know it will be yummy.
Here's hoping you all have a great Sunday and that something magical happens that you can come in tomorrow and share with us.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen

It's so nice to hear from someone who understands. My two kitties, Nicki and Poki, are real homebodies. They have NOT been out of the condo except one time to vets for "fixing." They run like crazy when someone they don't know comes in, and I know that putting them into a carrier and taking them in the car is going to be major stress out for them. There is a "cat hotel" upcountry Maui where I might take them. They would have a little backyard "house" to themselves with a climbing tree, toys, etc. I think I'M the one who is going to need a tranquilizer for this!! Ha! I'm sure when I look back on this from a couple of months out, I will wonder why I worried for four months about it. Waste of energy, but don't know how to turn that off.
