Hi Karen,

I get the concern about kitties. I would worry so much if I had to move out with my kitty for a week. My Smokey baby hates the carrier and really freaked out when I moved last year.

I have been trying to get rid of fleas in this new to me but older apartment. I had to start treating him when we moved in last fall but the frontline quit working, so I just switched to Advantage and it appears to be working. I just hate it for him that he never goes outside but the fleas have found him. The owners don't want to spend money on any kind of exterminating at all and that is apparently one reason the rent is so low. Anyway it makes me crazy to see him running from the fleas even after I have treated the rugs with a boric acid flea powder. When he is uncomfortable that makes me uncomfortable.

Hope you find a solution for a place for your kitties in Sept. What about a hotel that takes pet where you and they could stay for a week. You would just need to arrange to not have maid service or put the do not disturb sign out for the whole time you were there so the kitties would not have a stranger in there. I know places like Drury Inn and a couple of the other hotel/inn places with kitchens allow pets.

Aloha Karen......Thank you for understanding!! Fleas are the pits! I had that problem only once, and I can't remember which one worked....Frontline or Advantage, but one of them did nothing, and the other got rid of them completely. Luckily they don't have a flea problem right now even though their little shihtzu friend, Bubba, visits them often and he IS outside running around.

I never thought of a pet-friendly hotel!! That's a good idea. Actually I have a friend who has offered her rental condo which is right next door, but it is a condo that DOES NOT ALLOW PETS and I worry that I would get her into trouble.

I'm going to try and find some kind of natural sedative for them, too. They are going to be very mad at me for putting them through this...but I don't have a choice.

It is so good to see you........please post more often!!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

karen..have you spoken to a vet about a sedative? we used to have to give my dog an aspirin if w knew a storm was coming--it was milder than the actual sedtaive he gave her if we had mucho advance warning....just a thought...i think karen's idea of a hotel would be best...

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Hello to all......
For me it was another day busy at work trying to unpack boxes and get the new house in some sort of order.  The painter also came over because he's behind schedule due to all the rain we had this week.  He was only here in the morning but it did throw a wrench in my plans.

At night we stepped outside for a little bit to watch the sky and see what the neighbors were doing.....my dog got frightened by each big boom and kept running back to the front door.....I finally let him in the house and later found him cowering under the couch.  He's all bark and no action!

Today was a bit more relaxing for me........I just lamented that I did not unpack a single box today.  Well I guess Rome wasn't built in a day and this house won't get fully finished in a week...LOL.  I sure hope it will be done by the middle of the month!!

Glad to hear folks have been enjoying the weekend.
