Wrinkles?
I hope everyone has a terrific day.

Hi Penny,
Not vain at all - you might as well consider everything! I think I really started to show wrinkles beginning at age 50 (I'm 63 now). I might have more wrinkles 2 years after wls, but then I might also have had more wrinkles in 2 years even without wls. Take a look at the before & after: If I do have more wrinkles, I doubt it's the first thing you notice.
Many here go for plastic surgery. Not for me - I've earned every wrinkle I've got & have no problem living with them. (Also, I didn't lose as many pounds as some here).
I am so anxious to get my new life started and I am not very patient about all of this waiting, but I guess I have no choice. Thanks for answering me and for listening.

For several months I couldn't get over the change in my face. Feeling I looked older & tired; I was not happy. I actually felt I looked better when I was fatter.
Finally, I realize that woman in the mirror when I would walk by was me. My hair was also thinning so a new hair style was needed. Not what I wanted for sure.
I'm 15 months out and am pleased with my new look. My hair is growing back and with a little make up I feel much better about myself. Being able to wear smaller sizes and nicer clothes have helped a lot too.
I don't see the wrinkles like I use to... You will do fine.... we all do.

I am afraid of looking older too. I am petrified of losing my hair. My health problems have already caused my hair to thin and fall out by the handsful. I have been thinking about buying a hair piece or even a wig in anticipation of hair loss. Did you have to buy a enhancment for your hair? I know this is silly and that my focus should be on my health, but I am human, so it matters. Thanks for listening.

At around 5-6 months after surgery my hair was thinning a bit and I did buy a short wig, and had fun wearing it. Pepole told me it made me look younger.HeHe!! I don't wear it much any more. But I have it in case I need to go somewhere quickly and don.t feel like fixing my hair. But my avatar picture is my real hair. As for the wrinkles..Yes I have them but I think it icomes with my age and comes from good genes in one's family. You either have wrinkles or not. Being fat hides the wrinkles they seem not to show as much. But I would never trade the WLS and losing the weight. I am 141.3#'s now and will moisturize 2x a day and all will be fine. Don't hestitate to ask questions as my Daddy said to me..that is how we learn.

I know that I have more definition in my face now as before. For instance, now, I have a chin bone and my cheek bones are there. My laugh lines are deeper than before wls but I've lost a lot of weight and that, instead of making me look older, makes me look healthier.
I think we all have that moment when we have lost our weight when we look in the mirror and go who is that person. I know I do and I am always amazed how nice my face looks. Am I drop dead gorgeous? No, I'm 54 years old and look like I'm 54 years old. Before wls, even with my wrinkleless face, I looked old for my age because of the lack of oxygen my skin got because my heart just couldn't keep up. So, maybe you'll wrinkle but look what you get in return.
