Linda, your comments are always appreciated and very insightful.  I'm glad you gave me your 2 cents.  I do know that this is right for me.  I'm praying that I'll have the will power to keep myself going after a few years out.

Today was not as easy as I thought being on just the protein.  I find myself this evening with a stomach that's growling and I've been drinking a lot of water/crystal light.  Hoping that tomorrow will be a bit easier.  The weekend will be hard, but I'm determined not to cheat.  It's my health we're dealing with. :)

It is what it is.
If He brings you to it, He'll bring you through it...

Jani,I am happy my two cents helped you. I would like you to remember that if we could have controlled ourselves,we would have not gotten fat. We are all professional dieters...LOL.
You will not be alone, you have us. We share things here that family and friends could not began to understand.
Please try to be gentle with yourself,do the best you can,but enjoy yourself. If your doctor wants you to go on a diet to shrink your liver, which I did,but only 2 weeks before surgery,I then lost 24 pounds, my surgeon was pleased. Listen to your professionals, and lean on us,it helps us....smile.
  Relax...smile.

Linda,

So many people assume that a weight loss diet requires expensive food, but I manage to eat well without buying all that special, packaged, "diet" stuff which is so often full of ingredients I don't even recognize the names of.

Well, yesterday was not a good food day for me, because of course I had to test every food I could think of to verify that with an empty band, I can indeed eat anything in any amount.  Now that I've established that fact, I'm going to have to do the "fake it til you make it" thing until I get some fill put back in there!

B: toast with an egg and reduced-fat cheddar cheese on it (that's a combination I haven't been able to eat for about 1-1/2 yrs - man, did it taste good!)
S: iced skinny latte
L: baked crab "rangoon", brocamole
S: feta cheese w/ cucumber chunks and cherry tomatoes (veggies from our garden)
D: sausage & bean casserole, cucumbers with fresh dill
S: frozen cherries

Jean, you said a mouth full regarding buying ALL the diet stuff. I am so happy I am not on a diet. There is nothing like home cooking.
You are also humanly predictable as far as trying to test the water sans band.So many times I have read RNY people expressing sadness because they found out they do not dump on sugar,or greasy food. Our bodies will adapt for the most part to the junk we were eating before surgery,if we work on it,this is so sad,as far as I am concerned. Sure, you can get around it,gain the weight back or never lose it. That is why I combat my disease on three levels every day of my life, doing or living in the physical is not going to work. You know this. I hope you enjoyed your food choices for I feel it was a decision you made, more than a compulsion. There is one food I mentioned in my posts a bit ago,and you said you had not been able to eat it with the band. If you remember what it was,I hope you enjoy that one too,if you can remember.I think it was pasta. Jean, you know me well enough to know I am not encouraging you to binge, but rather to enjoy and be tolerant of yourself and your choices, just for today.
You are more than the sum of what you eat. I do not believe a few days of enjoying forbidden foods should not be viewed as terminal or a message of defeat. After all,it is just food, and we did not get fat by over eating for a week or two. I like debunking food, taking away it's abnormal power over me.I like putting food in it's place!
Jean,I appreciate your honesty and openness every day.
Thank you.

Thanks for your inspiration this morning, Linda.

I started out on the wrong foot again today with half a bagel and cream cheese.  But I have a protein bar for snack, chili/nectarine for lunch, walking after work, then dinner at a Mexican restaurant where I'll have a taco or two.  Maybe some dancing there also since my favorite band plays that good ole' rock & roll.

Eat well and prosper...I love that.  Would like to see the protein list too.  Isn't it nice that we are getting away from the blatant consumerism and back to basics financially.  We are in the midst of a change for the better.

Rejoice, CV Linda

CV,you too are an inspiraration. You never fall off the wagon, you just ride it sideways on two wheels at times. I love the way you jump back into your new life, without tucking your tail between your legs and adapting a defeated attitude, and attacking your self. People who think of WLS a diet have this tendacy.
LOL, I too liked Jeannie closing,"Eat well and prosper"!!
She has shone and continues to show what a wonderful tool we have aquired.
You would be surprised how many people PM me,saying they never knew that we can eat,and enjoy our WLS. I remember the nay sayers telling me if I managed not to die from the surgery,I would be eating baby food the rest of my life. It is so funny how myths fade in the light of fact.
I get almost 20 PM's a day, even if I can not answer them all in one day,I will answer them. I'd like to think I have good manners...smile.
I will get the protein lists and re-post them, and maybe a little more of the stuff I have not posted for a year, My has the time gone fast, I almost fell off my chair when Cheryl mentioned she had been here two years. She touched my heart when she said how much she appreciated the support that I had given her,I thought about how much she has given here. I think about the scrap booking she started with her sister, our sharing about hugs and so many other things. She has shared so much of her life, that I feel I truly know her and her family, what a gift she has given.
Enjoy your rock and roll,girlfriend!!
 Party on!! LOL!!

4 o'clock in the afternoon and I haven't popped in to say HI

This morning my friend took me shopping for some new clothes. We had fun finding some great sales at Kohl's. She is always urging me to be less conservative in my clothing choices. Hmmm .... didn't happen.

My car looked dusty (it is dark blue) so I put on my bathing suit (first time I've done that in DECADES) pulled out the hose and washed my car at home. That was a first too.

Food ... that's a problem area today. Lots of gurgles and burbles happening in the belly and I'm looking rather pruney. Better get more liquids in before I scare somebody.

Kisses

Hiya sis, good to see ya! If the swimsuit is one you had for awhile,I am sure you are "swimming"in it.
I pity the poor fool who tries to make you change anything until you want to.
I hope you do get in some nourishment. I am sitting here and it is after 5,I have not had lunch yet,and my breakfast was small,so I am thinking I should start thinking about eating. I do not want to abuse my body by not giving it what it needs. I wish people would understand how hard to impossible it is for us to eat, even taste one mouthful when we are not hungry. I just can not do it.
I am drinking a lot,as I must, and taking my additional potassium that my doctor has me on. I hope others on here approve of it,because, well,I do live my life based on their approval, and their needs, their opinions, falsely presented as fact.
Play nice, baby sister! You know I am kidding, you are one of the most honest and fair persons I have ever known. You have been the guiding voice in my head many times.

Hi Linda, better late than never.  Sorry I haven't been around, but work, work, and more work.  Ya know I'm not 'posed to be here while at work, but hey if my coworker can be on the internet for over an hour and another one can be on the phone with her DIL six times since lunch, I guess I can check in with my OFF family.  We had a nice evening fishing trip Sun.  Saw an alligator and caught a good mess of bass and a red fish.  Will eat the last of them tonight.

I went to the doctor this morning before work.  Blood sugar and cholesterol have gone up slightly.  Vitamin D level very low.  All else was fine.

B - protein shake
S - protein shake
L - boiled egg, 2 crackers with peanut butter, and a salad with timatoes, cheese, and black olives
S - 4 Cheetos (the puffy kind), I know bad choice, I wanted SALT.
D - fish, green beans and salad

About time for me to head home - hope to "see" you soon
Debbie
S - protein shake or ham and cheese rolled up

Damn those Cheetos and saltine crackers. I can consume way too many of them and I KNOW that I shouldn't let that first one anywhere near me!!!
