Stopping by to say hello and ask a quick question
Hey everyone,
I haven't posted in quite a while. I try and catch up on reading, but time hasn't allowed me to get on so often. I went to Chicago to visit my daughter, and then she came here for a visit/to take care of some things before her move to New York next month. These appointments/consultations are extremely time-consuming, but I am almost finished, thank God.
I hope that Brenda is feeling better, Linda S. is feeling better, and that Connie is feeling better from her broken hip. So sorry you all had to deal with poor health, but truly hope that you are all on the mend and feeling super. If I've missed anyone, I'm sorry, but the three mentioned I probably know best from the board since I first began visiting.
I had my final consult yesterday, cardiology. He wants me to have a treadmill stress test due to both of my parents having cardiac disease (now deceased - both lived good full lives and near 86 when they died). My question is this, how many of you had to undergo this test? Sadly, I just had one 14 months ago, but because it was over a year, I have to have it repeated for risk assessment. I've had 100% complete positivity from all of my consults - YAY! It's so encouraging!
Anyway, time is rapidly approaching. I'll have one more weight loss meeting in August, and then I should be good to go, provided my treadmill stress test is okay. I'm getting both nervous and excited all in one. I can't wait until I'm on the Loser's Bench with you all.
Hopefully, I will be able to get on here more often now that the consults/appointments are coming to an end.
Love and blessings for good health and happiness to each and everyone! Happy Friday!
Debbie

Debbie,
I had a stress test done as part of my pre-op stuff, not because of any cardiac problems in me or my family but because my surgeon requires it of all his patients. The test results were fine.

I had a drug-induced stress test required by my insurer (drug-induced because I was coming off knee surgery at the time). It was fine; even the cardiologist was surprised. If you have any joint problems, they may do the stress test with drugs; if not, they'll put you on the treadmill. Either way, don't worry about it. It's just normal procedure. They want to make sure you're in the best shape possible for the surgery. For any surgery, they do pre-op testing (for my knee replacement, I had a EKG as a routine test with blood tests).
Jan, thanks for answering! WOW, your surgery is 6 days away - that's wonderful. I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery! I can imagine how excited you are. I guess my surgery date will be sometime in September, but as quickly as these months are going by, it will be here before I know it. I've already organized my "skinny" clothes from ages ago that have been packed away, hoping one day to be able to fit into them. That day is now becoming a true reality.
Again, good luck! Please keep us posted how you are doing. I'm going to have to start visiting the board more frequently.

I ran across three pairs of size 16 jeans and shorts the other day when I was looking for something else. I had forgotten I still had them. It'll be fun to see how quickly I can get back into them. I've always liked wearing my shirts sort of big, so I don't plan on getting rid of my 2X's too quickly. I've really got a ton of clothes, but mostly nothing smaller than 18's. It'll be fun to buy some new smaller clothes. I'd like to get down to 140, but some of my friends tell me that would be too small on my 5'5" frame. We'll see....got a long way to go to get there, but hopefully by next year at this time.....
This board is really a great place to be in times where you need some atta girls or just some support. I'm truly glad I found it.
Doing ok today. Not too hungry...yet.

Jan, are you on your liquid diet now? I'm pretty sure I'm required 10 days on liquids before surgery. It's funny, I read and read in the beginning to educate myself, now I'm re-reading to re-educate myself. I organized all of my hand-outs and instructions into a three-ring binder to have handy for referencing. I'm getting so excited, and I can't imagine how excited you must be getting. LOL - bet it was fun finding your size 16s. I have size 13-18 in my large plastic tub in the bottom of my closet just screaming my name - lol
Yep, liquid diet, but mine is only for a week. I'm not having too much trouble, but I love to watch Food TV and right now they're doing ice cream, my fav. Before the ice cream they did all fried seafood which looked yummy too. I decided to do some chicken broth and pretend. Not too successful with the pretending :)
I think I'll just go to bed.
My doctors office provided us with a three ring blue binder that is our bible. So much information. One time through it just isn't enough. I've probably read it three times now.
