S - South Beach protein bar
L - Lean cuisine dinner (less the pasta - wish they wouldn't
put pasta in so much of their meals) banana

Trying to get in extra protein to help with the healing.

Pat! You sound so wonderful! I am so happy for you,and proud. I usually gain a few pounds after surgery,I guess it is the fluid and our bodies reacting. You are doing great. I know what you mean about Lean Cuisine, while shopping, I noticed how high the carbs are in most of their meals. I tend towards Healthy Choice, and you gotta watch them too! In a pinch,it is great to have quick meals at our fingertips, this was not so in the past.
You are so right about the protein healing your body, when did we get so smart?? Ain't it grand?
Thank you for checking in,dear friend.

Karen,

Good heavens, it is a small world, isn't it?  Dyersburg is about 30 min. from where I live and my eye doctor is there.  When I got the job that brought us to west Tennessee, I told my mother (who was born in Maine but went to college in east Tennessee) that we were going to look at houses in Dyersburg, and she said, "I visited Dyersburg in 1938 - I went to school with a girl who came from Dyersburg."

I agree with you about some people enjoying the drama of forum controversy.  Man, I do not need anyone else to create drama for me.  That's what my crazy family is for!

Jean,I love that you are feisty, and your humor cracks me up! I too agree about not nursing the flame of sadly unsuccessful people who get an Adrenalin rush by talking crap, they usually have NOTHING to offer. However, when you are singed by their demented viciousness,it is time to "fire" back. They sometimes think that if you are ignoring their un-happy asses, they have some power. When these Wizard of Oz people, start messing with my head,I fight back. I do not want them in my head, screwing with MY happiness,I usually think about it for a few days, but if it hangs with me like the fumes of   crap!! It is time to put them in their place.
It is funny that you are getting tired of the toast, something always taste better when it is verboten.
I would like to know how you make the peach and tomato salad,I know I am not the only one..grin!
I plan to visit at least one of your blogs today, you are such a intellegent,a true ponderer,it is always nice to hear from you. I am now prepared to get into the cranial part of you.
please stay as you are!

Linda,

Oooh, the cranial part of me is a scary, scary place!

Just kidding....since you have a dog, I suggest that you visit www.9dogshowling.blogspot.com first.  All about life with too many dogs!

The peach and tomato salad is SO good (especially right now when we have a good supply of fresh ones from our trees and garden).  Here's a link to the recipe: http://jeanslapbandjourney.blogspot.com/search?q=peach+and+t omato+salad
If you don't like fennel (sort of a licorice flavor), you can just leave it out or use basil, parsley, or cilantro instead.

I love the term "Wizard of Oz people".  The Internet seems to encourage strange behavior by ordinary little people who hide behind a curtain pushing buttons and pulling levers.  Like you, I HATE having my buttons pushed.  I keep hearing my mother's voice coming out of my mouth: "I am too old to put up with this crap!"

Hiya Jean,I LOVE fennel,it is the best part of Italian  sausage.Thank you for all the sharing you do here, and showing people how well we can eat,as we ease into our new lifestyle.
I am off to the blog in a minute,I love doggies (more than people)...grin!! You always know where you stand with doggies.

I think there will be peace here,I hope anyway...smile.
Wizard of Oz,wicked witch, and you must have cousins of Toto.
You know,in my youth, when I was fighting my weight hard,I would think of Alice in Wonderland, the ingesting of this and that. Outside substances. Now I know all the change comes from the inside. I dealt with the diet, clubs the meds which were actually amphetamines, then something to calm you down from the diet aides. There was even a candy called aides (before HIV),it was fudge and I could eat the whole box at once...so much for diet aide...LOL!
When I say I am a 12Th stepper,I have to say it was for Over eating!
I am going to look at doggies and eat yogurt.
It is early morn here....peace out.

Good Saturday morning to you, our little sweetheart. I hope that today is just the beginning of a great week end for you.

I had Kayden yesterday for a loooong time. I think if was close to 7 hours. He was so fussy and didn't want to sleep without being held and heck...he just wanted to be held all day long. Bill did some and then had to leave for work and then it was left to me. I was so tired by the time he left...I thought that I was going to fall down on the floor just to nap. ha ha  There was a couple of times that I was rocking him and he was sleeping and I napped too. For a few minutes and then was awake again. I couldn't hold my eyes open....I know that  my heart goes out to new parents...with the exception of my DIL...big smiles inserted here!

Food was just upset yesterday. I did manage to get something in for all 3 meals though...even if lunch was a bit strange...at least it was something.

B: cheerios with milk
L: watermelon and pepper cheese-see I told you it was strange!
D: hamburger patty with spaghetti sauce and cheese with onion-yummy!
S: nothing

So...that is my story and I am sticking to it!

I will chat with you later on...have a great day and know that I am sending you love and hugs along with prayers going up for you and yours. Spread the joy and happiness around with you and people will see your glow!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Dear Bren, giggle!! I am spreading joy today,I have so MANY wonderful PM's,it makes me chuckle. I feel like a avenger!  People get tired of hearing garbage, negatives affect us,ya know??
Girl, you got to experience once again why the good Lord gives babies to young people.   I bet your DIL was happy for the break! It is as one of the ladies said the other day,she will be GLAD for the break soon enough.Actually this is pretty soon,as I do not think he is teething yet,but this Pepsi generation's development is so much faster than us,I do honestly believe we are going to have some strange statistics based on the hormones they are putting in our meats. I will be long gone, but I do fear for our babies.
Well, you can take refuge in the fact that DIL is suffering, karma is magnificent!!
Yes,your watermelon and pepper cheese sounds strange but titillating to the taste buds.
Bren, you  have a wonderful day,get some rest, and I look forward to talking to you later.
