what's up on Sunday
Update on our trip:
We left Arkansas at 8:00 am, which meant that I got up at 4:00, finished packing, and we headed to the air port. My friend is house-sitting so I am fortunate that I didn’t have to put the baby in the kennel.
The flight to Atlanta was great and from Atlanta to Philly was great too. But, I have motion sickness really badly, and I also get really anxious flying. I ended up having my doctor give me some xanax to help me get through all the flying that I am doing over the next couple of weeks. And, it helps.
Yesterday, we checked into our hotel and then took off to sight see. I thought we walked about twenty miles, but my little walking monitor said, 5.45 miles. Then, we took a carriage ride and ended up at an outside bar where we ate fruit and I nursed a mixed drink. I must say, Philly’s historic district is gorgeous. The people were very friendly as well. We had a blast. Today, we are heading to the art museum and after that, which we will probably spend all morning there, we are going to the Jewish museum and hope we have time to go to the African American museum. I have a meeting at 5:30 so until then, I am spending my day taking in the sights.
Well, hubby is almost ready, so you guys have a good day and I’ll check in later. Oh, here in this hotel, no free internet, you have to pay ten bucks for twenty four hours. But, we got a great deal on the hotel, 89 bucks a night, and it’s right in the middle of the historic district.
You guys have a good day.

So nice to see a fellow Arkansan start the thread, even if that Arkie is in Philly! Sounds like you're having a great time already, hope you continue to.
Yesterday was a fun day. My DIL, Tess and I did a wedding party about 40 miles from home, so we had a very nice visit on the drive down and back. Gary was in the northern part of the state doing a wedding (photographer), which didn't start until 7:00, so I had the evening to myself. After I brought Tess back to her car I went on to IHOP and got my favorite Senior Grilled Talipia for dinner, then went grocery shopping, so that's all done for a bit.
Came home and started working on Saint Bella and aggravated my elbow. So, here I sit with an ice pack on it while I type. Hmmmm, probably not the smartest idea, but it will be okay. Guess I will finally break down and call the ortho tomorrow and see about a cortisone shot.....yuckkkkk
Alrighty then, you all have a wonderful day. Be good to yourself and each other!!
Susan
no one had started the thread yet so wow you are first isnt that something. lol sounds like you all are having a great time.
I hope it isnt as hot and humid there as it is here. if it isnt you picked a great time to go , but i guess this is a teachers conference?
today i will probably do what i have been doing lately, staying inside and you all know how much i like that ....makes me get really depressed and sad to have to spend so much time in the house but when the temp is 96 and the humidity is 90 percent it is almost impossible to do much outside. Yesterday i went out and put the soaker hoses on some of my gardens that need a good soaking and by the time i had done that i was soaking wet myself from the humidity in the air...it is awful ....im about ready to sell out and move to somewhere . i can stand the heat it is just that darn stickness and trying to breath underwater. lol
i am going out to the garden now to gather my ripe tomatoes before it gets too hot so i will get and tell you all hope you have a great day.

You being the gardener that you are must HATE being house bound. Move to Hawaii! It is warm here...but rarely humid.
Thanks for the memory!

Nothing new here. Took Grace to see Ice Age 3 yesterday. Ice Age movies are her favorite right now. We had soooooo much fun!! It was in 3D...wow!!
Today I am taking the girls shopping for a few new things. Amanda has been such a great help and Gracie has been so good!! They deserve some special things.
Everyone have a great Sunday!!
Love and hugs to all.....connie d
I love historic districts. Your trip sounds wonderful. I just will have to live through everyone else's vacations. I will have a vacation again, I know. The only trip I'll have this year is to Wisconsin when my brother has his surgery, where I'll sleep on an Aerobed and help him out. Not much of a vacation, but oh well. I'll have a vacation again.
I was looking through the Sunday paper and my Meijer ad was missing ... I can't get through the week without knowing what's on sale! So I called the carrier and sat here in the computer room (front bedroom) to wait until she came. I had every other Sunday ad but that.
Not much going on here today. Yesterday was a vegging day; I went out to the store to get a few things (onion soup mix for the burgers, an onion and a tomato and some eggs that were on sale ... spent $4.41) and put the $8 I had left in my gas tank, so now I have nearly a full tank, and that makes me feel a little more secure. I'm going to make burgers today ... I was going to make them yesterday but the meat wasn't thawed fully. So today's the day. I've already stripped the bed and started washing sheets (this takes awhile because the comforter takes a few cycles in the dryer to dry).
Otherwise, it's just baseball, reading, laundry, litter boxes ... not a whole lot going on. My body is feeling a little better after sitting with my legs up most of the day yesterday. Lost two pounds of fluid just from yesterday. Wish I didn't have to go through this every week.
Well, have a good day.
i'm up-barely- sleeping in has it's merits tho! extra cuddles with the furbabies!
jeannie your trip sounds wonderful ; thanks for sharing what you have so far- will enjoy hearing about the sights!
susan-get that elbow taken care of
jan--oh fresh homegrown tomatoes!!!!! jealousy here- we didn't put in veggies this year due to moving but i did buy a tomato plant for michael- probly should go look to see if anything ripening!!! hehe..i can't do humid either- that was a big NO for panama...
michael finished his patio endeavor- the grinding wheels and river rock actually look very nice! we sat and enjoyed the setting last nite for a bit...hope someone else will appreciate it!!
cannot believe that weekends only have two days....need to get hustling today to get something done--feel like i frittered away yesterday......
hugs and prayers
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Sounds like you are having a good trip. Wow! 10$ for the internet. I suppose lots of Hotels will start charging for the internet now. What kind of drink did you have? My favorite is a Margarita. I can drink one but it's better if I just drink 1/2. I feel good for a tiny bit then really crappy then have to go to bed.
I am sitting out on the back porch this morning. Suppose to be hot but thunderstorms. We have our church picnic today and I don't usually go but my dear husband is playing his guitar and so there we are. He is playing some Credence Clearwater and something else I can't remember. I don't like going to those things cuz I am a terrible socializer and usually stand there like a duck. Oh, well....hope to get home in time to relax and get some laundry done.
Scrapbooking was fun...I didn't do so hot on my eating but better than I have sometimes. Got some really good pages done.
Yesterday I ran on my treadmill for 20 min straight and at almost 3 miles an hour. Then walked it for 10 more. Now I know for some of you that's nothing, but for a former non- exerciser asthmatic running at all is a big deal. I felt quite pleased with me.
Jan, I don't see how you do it in all that heat and humidity. I would just melt. I am getting darn sick of the long, cold, snowy winters here tho. I would love to go somewhere with a longer spring, summer and fall with a winter only 1-2 months long but I don't think that exists anywhere to those specifications...Along the coast over here is close but not enough...Plus my sister would kill me if I left her here alone with mom and dad. Oh, and since Tom finally finished the bedroom, I'd hate to leave my house.
Anyway, have a great Sunday....
Cheryl
