Jeannie,

Glad you are enjoying your trip.

The temperature here in Houston has been over 97 to 103 for a few weeks now and since the third week of May in the 90's. I hate it but I generally have to do shopping in the early morning then stay in the rest of the day. I was out yesterday at 1pm after having brunch with friends and made one short grocery stop, maybe 30 minutes total. By the time I got home with my one bag of groceries I had some trouble breathing and my face was red. They say we are beating heat records set in 1980 but I don't recall it being that hot then. Oh well, and it only gets hotter into September.

I finally posted a profile on e-Harmony just to see what came up. I spent yesterday deleting guys for one reason or another, including distance, height, what they were looking for in woman, et****pt 6 possibles out of 28 matches. Now, I need to decide if I want to pay the money to get to the next step of communicating with one or more of them. I am doing this because mostly because the psychologist who runs my 12 step food addiction group assigned me to meet and date men. She strongly feels I need to engage in the process of doing this just to get out and feel more confident.

Regarding feeling confident, having gained back 50#, I feel far from confident but on the other hand when I was at my lowest weight about a year after surgery, I did not feel confident either. I did not like my body and its loose skin, and to me I looked older. I got a good feeling from the positive comments but that did not last long. Anyway, not sure how far I will get with this e-Harmony thing. I may have to give in and go a singles group at one of our churches which I have been putting off. At least there is one where they say the age range is 45 to 70 years old.

Has anyone else done e-Harmony?

Karen, one of my girlfriends did eHarmony and it didn't amount to anything. She was very disappointed and finally stopped after several months. That is just what happened to her....I hope that you find happiness from wherever you choose to go...whether it be on line or in person.

Happy Sunday Morning off'rs.....  I sure miss going to church - 2 sundays now in a row -- I tho't I might try today, but knew I couldn't sit on the hard pew for an hour.

The soreness in the hip is a little better today,  foot is still drooping and seems a bit better.....I think this is going to be a long process and I'm worried about being able to drive.  I had planned on
going back to work on July 20th.....guess we will just see.   I go back to
the surgeon this coming Thursday - hopefully he will have good news
and also remove the staples from my incision.   Someone is going to have to drive me to K'zoo cause I don't feel like driving that far yet
and am not sure how it will go with the droopy foot= which is my driving foot.....it does have feeling on the bottom but moves slowly.

Have the crock pot going with frozen veggies, onions, green peppers,
on the bottom and chicken breasts on top, then covered with cream of mushroom soup......starting to smell pretty good.

Time for a cuppa decaf......have a special Sunday.

Hugs,
Pat R.

Well, a vacation sure sounds good.  I loved Philly when I was there.  i'll be going back this fall for a dog show in Montgomery County.  I can't believe you have to pay for the internet.  That sucks.  The dogs are outside barking their heads off.  There is a squirrel in the tree that's just taunting them to no end.
Well, just for yucks and grins, I got on the scale this morning.  It says I'm down 8 pounds since I started my liquid protein diet on Thursday.  I don't feel like I'm starving either.  I bought some cookies and cream powdered protein and don't really like it.  It's too sweet.  I'll try mixing it with some chocolate protein and see if that improves it.  Hubby just went out to buy some weigh****cher, Smart Ones meals.  He said he feels like crap and needs to do something too.  It'll help with him dieting too.
Well, hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Wow...8 lbs since Thursday is wonderful!

My husband lost about 80 lbs after I had my surgery just because I buy the groceries and if I couldn't eat it, it didn't come into the house!  He's much healthier and happier now.

You know, you don't have to mix the protein drinks full strength.  You can use more water than what the directions say and it thins them out. I use about 12-14 oz of water in mine.

I do usually use more water than what's called for.  I guess I'll try adding even more next time.  I also thought of mixing it with some chocolate to see if I like it better.

I told Gary about your husband and he wanted to know how he lost so much.  When I told him he said it wouldn't work here, because he does a lot of the grocery shopping.  Since I won't be eating much for the next few weeks, maybe he'll be successful.  We won't be going out to eat at all.  Yesterday we had a founders day picnic at the lake.  Pulled pork with smoked beef briscuit potato salad, borscht, cake, brownies etc etc etc.  I sat and drank an EAS liquid protein.  I felt a little deprived, but not as bad as I thought it would be.  Must be a mind set...

Jan, I remember when I was on my pre-surgery diet and that week end I had a birthday party at one of my favorite restaurants..I sat and drank my Crystal Light. The next day I had a family baby shower..and trust me when I say that Bill's cousin has a feast when she has a party. There was 4 tables full of food..and good stuff too! I sat and ate my jell-o, pudding and Crystal Light. People just think that you are have a test or something. I thought that if someone said something I would just say that I was getting ready for a medical procedure...it wouldn't be a lie either!

First, we stopped going out to eat and that helped lots of things. We weren't eating junk, and saved a ton of $$$!  Then, I stopped buying anything that I couldn't eat, so poor guy just didn't have much of a choice. He felt badly about eating in front of me, so his snacking decreased, and finally, he joined Overeaters Annon. and it's helped him in many ways, not just his eating.

I'm almost three years out, so it's been a gradual thing for him, but now we have each other's demons to work on together. I'm much more aware of what are our trigger foods and just don't go there.

It's all about lifestyle changes.
