What we are eating, and whats eating us,Monday...
Linda,
If George wants to put on big girl panties (in the privacy of his own home), that's OK with me!
I had a BLT sandwich for breakfast this morning - my first in like 2 years - and it was a "so what?" (maybe because I didn't put 1/2 cup of mayo on it). As you said the other day, it's funny how "forbidden" foods turn out to be not so fabulous after all. The whole "forbidden" concept gives those foods too much power over us.
Last week I asked for ideas for what to do with the glut of peaches and plums we have, and you suggested donating them to charity. That turned out to be an excellent idea. My church (and others in the area) collects non-perishable foods for our local Helping Hands Center, so I stopped at Helping Hands this morning and asked if they could accept donations of perishable foods like fruits and veggies, and they said yes, indeed. So the next time we bring in a huge harvest, I will take a load over to HH.
B: BLT
S: iced skinny latte
L: summer squash & sausage casserole
S: salmon spread & celery sticks
D: salmon patties, grilled Portabella mushrooms with tomatoes and queso fresco on them
S: SF chocolate pudding

Anyway, here's my day today, subject to change at any given moment..Lol
B- bkfst burrito w/ eggbeaters, turkey bkfst sausage on ww lf, high fiber tortilla
S- latte (not really a snack, more like plasma)
L- chicken quesadilla
S- Atkins chocolate chip granola bar
D- white chicken chili w/ slice of cornbread
S- watermelon
Cals: 1386 fat: 27 carb: 177 fiber: 48 pro: 115

Yeah....I'm pretty addicted. Better the fat free, sugar free lattes than Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia that I used to be addicted to!
Say.... I saw something on Rachael Ray today you (and everyone else, maybe) might be interested in. The topic was "orthorexia", a newly named eating disorder. It's where you become obsessed with eating healthy, to a point of not eating at all for fear of eating something that is not good for you. The young lady who was on started by being afraid of the "freshman 15" her first year in college. She started reading labels, to the point of spending 30 minutes in each grocery isle, to then only eating organic, then becoming vegetarian, then vegan, then just not eating. Eventually, she weighed only 68 lbs.
It's a fascinating topic that you might find interesting, considering your psych background. I find it interesting from a WL/ maintenance viewpoint. Maybe a topic for my next support group meeting??? Look it up and let me know what you think. I'll be interested in your opinion!

Whoa Susan,I just saw this, very interesting. I know myself and a few of my friends do not have a healthy relationship with food although we have lost the weight.
Being on maintenance is a new world.
I have a fear of gaining weight,my NUT has told me to try and be normal, have some cake now and then..LOL.
What the heck is normal??
All I know is feast or famine. I still feel funny when I am eating anything that I have not ate since 2006!!

Hiya Susan! Your menu is making me hungry! I have been toying with the idea of cornbread for a few days...smile.
Are you off on Mondays?
It is so hot here,I only ate breakfast so far. I am so happy I lost weight as I can take more heat than I used to. My electric bill is actually lower, miracles of miracles.
Have a good evening.

Hey there,
Yep, it's my last day off of the weekend....sigh. Didn't do much, either...just lazy, lazy, lazy. A friend of mine who has always been thin and has recently gained some(30lbs) has asked me how to diet. I'm an expert at dieting, as I'm sure all of us are, it's just the keep it off that was always the problem. So, I spent a good part of the day working on a food plan for her, putting ideas together for easy and quick low fat/calorie meals for her. I realized how good I eat now as all of the dishes are actually things I eat on a regular basis. What a difference WLS has made in my life!
Wow.....isn't it amazing how differently we see summer now? Even Gary says the heat doesn't bother him like it did before. It was about 94 today and I told the lady at the post office it was a beautiful day....lol! Everyone else is sweatting like the devil and I have a cotton cardigan on! Yipeeeeeeeeee
Have a jim dandy evenin' lovely lady....see ya later!
