I do believe I am going to float right away I am SOOO Excited!!!
It has been a rough few days. I have been stuck on the side of the highway twice since friday with a dead car. I haven't even paid for the repairs done this weekend when I picked it up Sunday and had drove it 8 miles and it happened again. For the first time in my life I am riding a bus.(it's not so bad) I am buried at work and have an important deadline hanging over my head for some  Legion reports due( tomorrow).I spent an almost sleepless weekend at a Convention.

I just opened an E-mail here at work telling me I had been approved to go to training to become a Certified Infant Massage trainer !! I can not believe it!! Our program had some extra money and we were encouraged to submit "wish lists" never in a million years did I think it would be approved!! Now when Karen goes to do her newborn hearing checks onher babies I can go along and teach the mommies infant massage! happy dance happy dance happy happy dance!!

Aloha happy dancer !! How wonderful and exciting is your news!! You are going to LOVE working with the newborns in such an intimate way. Ironically it's 5:10 a.m. right now and I'm dressed and ready to go to the hospital to meet and greet "my new babies." There is always a feeling of anticipation because I have no idea what I'm going to find.

There is a poster at Maui Memorial that encourages mothers to have skin-to-skin contact with their babies as much as possible so I often find the babies cuddled on their mama's bare bellies/breasts when I go to get them for the tests. It's so beautiful. And I want to know more about what you will be doing. Sounds fascinating and maybe I can make suggestions to the new mothers from your wisdom.

I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! And bah humbug on your car!! Hate spending money on things like that where you can't see anything...Ha!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

oh what a wonderful thing to learn....my mother had twins that were born at 7 months at home and only weighted 5 pounds together. she kept them warm by putting them in bed with her against her bare skin ....the old country doctor told her since they were so tiny and needed stimulation on their skin he showed her how to lay them on her tummy and to massage their little backs and legs and arms....they so loved it that to this day as 60 year olds still loved to be massaged lightly. lol when i had my babies i did the same thing to them and it seemed to stimulate them to out perform other babies that were their age in physical development....and all three of them still like to be rubbed lightly. this was in the early 60s when we were told to put them in a bed and leave them alone.  not good then and isnt good now in my opinion....
im glad that medicine is turning around some of the old taboos that werent any good.

Bummer on the car thing.
What a wonderful thing to do.  I'll have to check into that.  I had two premies and know how they want you to have contact.  Massage, as we all know, is wonderfully relaxing.  My DIL is pg and due in Dec so it would be nice for Gram to know the massage technique.
Blessings to you for such a great wish coming true.

I am so sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with your car...they can be such pains in the bee hind!

But on a happier note...congratulations on the good news. I am so envious...that would be something that would be so much fun and so helpful to the new Mommy's too. I think that is just great. You will do a wonderful job doing that..I just know it for sure!

Keep us updated on what you learn will you? It sounds like a lot of us would love to use it on our grands. I know I would.
