needing prayers
Hi Joanne,
You'll soon be joining a new "hip" club! I joined the club 6 months after my RNY and had a total hip replacement 16 months ago. I must tell you that although I LOVE my RNY and losing over 115 lbs. I love my new hip even more. I was in chronic pain and couldn't walk without a cane, couldn't find a comfortable sleeping position, couldn't exercise. Now I walk 45 minutes up a hill daily just because I CAN! It is absolutely the BEST!!!
I wish you much luck and success with your surgery. When I had my hip replacement and was going through my physical therapy, I thought every day that I had made the right decision to have my RNY first and then the hip replacement. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be very happy to share my experience with you.
Prayers and good thoughts to you.

As far as the hip replacement goes you will never ever regret having it done. I had both of my hips replaced and the quality of life is so much better. Everything is better, walking, sitting, sleeping , sex
My frist hip was done in Jan of 2007 and my lap band was done Sept 07, second hip was done Dec 07. I did get an infections in my second hip surgery which is really rare and ended up having two more surgeries on that to clean out the infection. I would do it all over again. The pain from surgery was less then the pain from having bad hips. Good Luck.........keep us informed on your progress.
I was back to work in 4 weeks after the first hip surgery.
