OT We all need a tree!

Heres a good one.    Love, Linda
I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had
just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an
hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck
refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited
me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused
briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both
hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation... His face
was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his
wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity
got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

"Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied "I know I can't help having
troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't
belong in the house with my wife and the children.. So I just hang them
up on the tree every night when I come home and ask the Universe to take care
of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again."   "Funny thing is," he smiled, "when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before."

What a wonderful story.  Yup I NEED a tree.  Hope you don't mind that I "borrowed" it and put it on the Texas forum.  Lots of people there need trees too.

years ago someone shared this story with me- i had forgotten it--thank you!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I have had and still deal with anxiety and fear. I worry, worry, worry. A therapist advised me to put my troubles in a box up on the shelf in the closet. I could take it down and go through it once in a while but I didn't need to carry it around all the time. That was good advice and it does help when I remember!

I like the idea of putting them safely in a box....I think I will give this try.  I too worry too much.  One of my doctors recently told me I must learn to relax....maybe this will help.  Thanks for sharing a great idea.

"Learn to relax" I've heard that one too. Easy to say not so easy to do if you've spent a lifetime worrying!! I try daily and am making progress. I think age and experience has some  to do with it. It's just too much effort to try to control the universe anymore. And ya know what?It doesn't work very well.

Someone posted today about "needing" to guide family and friends when they see them headed the wrong way. I still try; I offer unsought advice to my kids. Whether they heed it or not is another matter! We all have the right to make our own mistakes. Unfortunately that is about the only way I learn lessons. My mom tried to offer probably good advice; did I listen and heed? Heck no! Wish I had. . .
