LOL - gosh, I'm old too!  LOL  I don't remember the Soupy Shuffle, but I remember the Lorenzo Stomp - lol I had to start a new thread when I read that so you would see it here.  I also remember the locomotion and the mashed potatoes - lol - wow, a walk back through time.  Thanks for the memory.

I was born in Baltimore, so if any of you ever heard of the Buddy Dean Show, I was a guest along with my neighbor for pre-teen day!  What a hoot!

I remember when Soupy told the kids to go to their mommies and daddies wallets and get him a picture of George Washington.  He collected over $200, when it was just a joke.  He  donated the money to charity.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Lovely Linda,

I remember Captain Kangaroo too!  I used to watch it every morning while eating my bowl of oatmeal my mom made for me.  What memories.

LOL! I loved Howdy Dowdy too!
I had issues with Captain Kangeroo,as mom and dad left for work early, and it was up to me to watch the time and get to school on time. Well,I was taught to read time like "a quarter to" and such.
He would say things like 8:40,and I did not know wat the heck that meant...such silliness..LOL.

Soupy's weirdness actually scared me when I was a kid, but I kep****ching anyway with a terrible sort of fascination.

I remember my mom walking through the room when Soupy was on one day and saying, "What on earth are you watching?"

I explained, she watched for another few minutes, then said, "This is a kids' show?" and walked out.
