When did you last go to Shea?  I may never get to see Citi Field.  But I will never forget my last visit to Shea.

I had entered the raffle to "earn" the opportunity to buy tickets for Opening Day 2007.  My name was pulled.  I called my brother, told him I am here in Texas, you are up there.  Here are the authorization codes.  Buy your tickets and have fun. He told me he wasn't going without me.  I told him I couldn't afford it.  He flew me up there.  We got to the game and lo and behold!  My high school marching band was the pregame entertainment.

That's a cool story!

I went to a bunch of games last year before the end of the era...I desperately wanted to take my dad to the very last game..had someone I could buy tickets from (350.00 a pop) but dad was worried he'd get too tired....  Some of my fondest childhood memories are from the days my dad took me to the ballgame.   (sniff....I'm getting all chocked up)  To me the home of the Mets will always be Shea. The best ending to the games was watching Kiners Corner.......

And to hear Lindsey, Bob and Ralph call the games.  Wow!

Have you seen the movie "Frequency"?  If not, check it out.  A lot of 1969 Mets stuff.

A few years ago my son had a plaque made for me.  30"x36".  It has baseball cards of 20 or so of the 1969 Mets, plus a pouch in the middle holding my 1969 yearbook.

You are so right Ruth.  I am sorry, but I normally subconsciously think everyone here has had or is going to have WLS.  My bad. Praise God that you did not have to.  He blesses us daily.

Bottom line, we all have our rules to follow.

Good FRIDAY morning to you, George and my OFF siblings.

George, that is a excellent bible verse and so fitting...

This morning I am going to my pcp for a follow up with that anit biotic disaster the other day. At least the stomach pains aren't as bad and only come on occasion now instead of constantly.

They came the other day and changed the battery in the smoke alarm and now it is beeping a sharp sounding beep again. I am not sure what is wrong there....but I am getting to the point of ripping down from the ceiling...again!!

It is cold in here. I have the air on but the temperatures are only going to be in the 70's for the next several days. But I have to keep my doors and windows closed and locked since there are 2 escaped convicts from the Indiana State Prison on the loose. Three of them escaped but they caught one just over the Michigan line (about 6-8 miles) and the other 2 are still on the loose. They think they saw them back in Indiana near the South Shore train line. There was a couple of murderers and a rapist or two rapists and a murderer. I can't remember which. Jeez...it seems like just a short time ago that one escaped from the prison in Westville. I am not far from either the Michigan City one or the Westville one either. They move the really bad ones to Westville for some reason. It use to be the mental hospital and now it is part of the prison. I am not sure what the heck goes on around here...at least with the prison...I hear one thing and then another so how is someone suppose to know????? All I wish is that they would just make sure that they all stay safe and so do we...keep them in there where they belong.

I better get going. My appointment is approaching and I have to get ready. I am still washing up in the sink, Pat. It has been close to a month since I got in the shower. Oh how I miss it!!!! I can wash up pretty good in the sink but nothing beats a shower with the water running over you...and I love HOT showers...that is missing the dang old sink!! At least I don't smell...which is a great thing!

I am sending you all love and hugs and prayers are being said for everyone too. Have a great Friday and know that the week end is just around the corner. Stay happy and spread some of that happiness around!

BTW...today is day 5 of Bill being on the patch. He is doing great and told me last night when they are outside at work and the guys are smoking he has to leave because the smell makes him sick to his stomach. He is worried about the food he is eating. He says that he is going to balloon out with the weight gain. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he already looks like I am going to become a father if you get my drift! But I was nice and told him to tackle one addiction at a time and the smoking is the one right now. I told him after he gets through this and is safely got that one under control he can hit the food one then. He just said alright. I am not sure that made him happy. Oh well..such is life in the big city and the city of Portage too!

Bye..........

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi Brenda,
I don't know if your smoke alarm is strictly battery or wired in as well.  My husband, the building official, pointed this out to me and I was dumbfounded and had never noticed that on the package.  Battery operated smoke alarms expire!  Some packages say five years, some eight years and some ten years.  It sounds like you need to replace yours.  The problem is knowing when the smoke detector was made.  My husband says to be wary of buying them at places like Big Lot and those kind of stores for $1-2 because they may have spent their life on a shelf expiring.
I hope this information is useful to you.
Bev
